Chapter forty-seven

Ethan’s POV

I sat in my study for the better half of the day, just smoking cigarettes and thinking of Ariah.

Every muscle in my body was aching for her, I wanted to go to her, I already knew what sort of mood she was in, but I couldn't. I had a feeling that if I looked at Ariah before the event, I might just have a desperate urge to call the whole thing off. I ate nothing, I was too anxious to eat, and eating only made me want to eat more and more.

The door of my study was locked and I didn't even keep track of time anymore. A knock suddenly sounded on the door, startling me as I stubbed out another cigarette.

"It's Lowell, might want to open up, big man," Lowell said cheerfully.

I grunted and dragged myself to my feet, that same way I strolled and unlocked the door.
