Chapter forty-two

Ariah’s POV

The next day, I woke up with a grim look on my face.

I had to wear a mask again to conceal how hurt I was by the recent developments. Countless times I wondered what would become of me, I was scared that a time would come when Ethan wouldn't have any use for me and I might and that would be heartbreaking for me. Not just because I would have to leave the pack, but because I would lose Ethan forever and I couldn't imagine anything worse than that at the moment.

"What would you do if it were to happen then?" Leia asked as I started getting ready for the day.

I looked out of my window, but I couldn't find the sun. The long stretch of the sky was a continuous cluster of gray, ominous clouds that gave the day a gloomy look.

"I don't know what I would do, Leia, I'd have to leave. Maybe I'll get kidnapped again or something." I replied grimly.

"That's a hell of a plan." She said sarcastically.
