Chapter 27

Robert’s POV.

Regret eats away at me from not stopping Marissa from coming here. If I had only told her the truth, then she wouldn’t have been nearly killed by the rogues or nearly raped by that pervert on the train. I failed her again. But I vow here and now to never do that again.

Sleep eluded me when I hear a scream coming from Marissa’s room. I jump out of bed and run towards the room. Turning the light on, she is trying to thrash, but it looks like she is being held in place. My eyes widen as her back arches up off the bed as she roars in pain. Ripping the quilt from her, I place my hand on her chest and she is burning up. Her temperature is so hot that I remove my hand. Her eyes snap open, but her eyes are completely white as she chants something under her breath. Thomas and Sandra enter the room and they gasp at what they are seeing.

“Do something. Help her!” I shout as I grip my hair, not knowing what to do, when a snarl rips out of Marissa before a loud primal, guttural howl
