Chapter 17: Devastated breakup

Lily was heartbroken after her breakup with Tom. She didn't know where to turn or what to do. She found herself at James and Sarah's doorstep, tears streaming down her face. James let her in and asked her what was wrong.

"I broke up with Tom," Lily said, her voice barely above a whisper.

James pulled her into a hug. "I'm so sorry, Lily. That must be really hard."

Lily nodded, feeling grateful for his comfort. "I just don't know what to do now," she said.

"We'll figure it out together," James said, giving her a reassuring smile.

Over the next few weeks, Lily found herself spending more and more time with James. She was grateful for his company and his support during this difficult time. But she also found herself feeling guilty for leaning on him so much. After all, he was married to her best friend.
