Chapter-6

Lily

“Fuck that man, who needs him to cancel some betrothal or whatever.” I shouted in frustration as my taxi driver flinched at my sudden outburst.

Clearing my throat I passed the driver an apologetic smile which he nodded as a response to.

Taking a long breath for the hundredth time today. I got out of the taxi after paying, I entered the house only to find an old man probably in his seventies sitting on a couch talking to Mia's parents. Despite his age he looked like a pretty healthy man and had an authoritative persona of a typical family elder.

“You are home Mia, come your grandfather is here to meet you.” mom said, grabbing my attention as she noticed me enter the house.

Mr. Mancini Sr. Mia's grandfather. As per Mia, he is a strict person. They have only met once after she came back from living with her granny, that was also at a weekly family dinner that takes place every friday in Mancini's main house.

I walked towards Mr. Mancini Sr. and bowed my head slightly to greet him with respect. “ Hello grandpa.”

As I said he looked at me for a while

“I know because of your granny's death you were upset, but now you are finally home you should focus on your studies.” He said

Wait what, by his words I don't think so he knows about Mia running away stunt. I looked at mom and by her look, I confirmed that he doesn't know about it yet.

“Dad, the quality of the education in towns is not that high so please give Mia some time to settle down first without any pressure.”

“Yea dad she just got back after a long time we don't need to pressure her for anything.” Mom and dad exclaimed, as grandfather frowned upon hearing that.

“I get it that both of you are worried because she just came back, but the children of the Mancini family shouldn't be left behind.”

I raised my eyebrow slightly as I can tell that Mr. Mancini Sr. is bold in his decisions and quick in his actions. Which I kinda liked.

Before anyone could say anything else he continued.

“Find and arrange a nice school for Mia, even though the education is not good in town compared to here, Mia should not let the Mancini family down.” He said, looking at me.

“Don't worry grandpa, I won't let family down. I will do my best.” I replied as he nodded with satisfaction.

“Good girl, I will go back now. But bring Mia back to my house this Friday so everyone can have a meal together, last time Mia didn't get the chance to reunite with the family.”

“But dad is….. is it necessary I mean.” Mom said hesitantly, but dad cut her off by saying.

“Dad is right Mia has just come back home she should reunite with all the family members. Besides, I plan to send Mia to the Royal Elite Institute, and I need the eldest brother's help.”

Mr. Mancini Sr. had three sons. The eldest son Henry Mancini was a greedy business wizard. Second eldest son Olivier Mancini was a business magnet. Only Aldo Mia's father because of his poor health wasn't in the business of Mancini corporation.

One of the reasons Mia's father wasn't so close to the other two brothers and rarely interacted with them. He and his family were also looked down on. Mia told me how bad they behave with her family and always taunt them, like they are so above her family, I hate those types of people.

“But will they help?” Mother said with doubts.

“Don't worry Henry and his wife can be a little arrogant but they are not bad people. All I need is Mia to get a place in the Royal Elite Institute.” Dad replied, assuring mom.

“Aldo is right, Henry will help, he can be reluctant but Mia has my support so it will be fine.” grandfather also said reassuringly.

With that he stood up and left the house as mom and dad also went to their rooms after passing me a smile. At the side I saw Gabrielle entering the house, I went towards him and asked.

“What is this Royal Elite Institute? Is it good?” He looked at me dumbfounded for a second and then said.

“Of course. It is the best school in Tribeca. Nick, Dario and Norah all are attending that school, not just them but also all of our cousins too attend that school.”

“Ohh….. so it is that good.” I replied, as he said.

“Um, It's an institute only students with nice marks can get in. It's very difficult to get into that institute.” nodding I wondered about that school, when he continued.

“Well only because of our first uncle Nick, Dari and Norah were able to get in. You have to be good at atleast in studies or the extracurricular activities for them to take you in.”

Well that's exactly what I wanted to hear, I may not be good in studies but when it comes to extracurricular, nah-ah no one can beat me.

My thoughts and our conversation were interrupted by a chuckle. Me and Gabrielle both turned towards the owner, and there it was Norah standing and fakeing her even fake laugh.

“Don't tell me, mom and dad are trying to get you into the Royal Elite Institute. God Mia please decline, they are gonna waste their efforts. Uncle Henry and aunt Ava will never agree.” she laughed as she continued.

“Last time when dad asked uncle Henry for help, to get me in the Royal Elite Institute both the aunts found a thousand and one reason to stop me but I still got in.” she said with a mockery.

“OMG! Thanks for the assurance, now I am relaxed. Despite the thousand and one reasons available for your failure when you can get in. I am sure I will also get in with the flying colours.” I replied in her same dump tone.

Which annoyed her enough to leave with her two penny worth attitude and personality.

“Ignore her, she is just spoiled, don't take her words to heart even if you won't get into the institute, it's not a big deal just do your best.” Gabrielle responded by passing me a smile.

“Thanks, you are the first one to actually think that her behaviour is not cute but spoiled.” He laughed as I said that.

“You are right she just got a habit of getting whatever she wants, which made her think that it's ok to behave like this and put everyone down, so be careful.” he said and also walked away.

I went to my room too since there is not much for me to do right now. Gabrielle is a nice brother, but now I have to worry about getting into this Royal Elite Institute. I don't want to take this so-called uncle's and aunt's help.

I sigh as I flopped on my bed thinking what I can possibly do. I opened the laptop and did some research. The institute is overall very famous, and all top in its studies but for the last four years it has been failing in and losing to the second most famous school, K&Q in all the extracurricular.

Interestingly I have an advantage as I am good with the extracurriculars but the disadvantage is that I can't prove it with all my certificates and trophies.

I have to show them how good I am , but I have to meet them to prove it. However, I can't set a meeting with the principal just like that, can I?

I suddenly got interrupted with a notification on my phone. I opened the text from some unknown number.

“Meet me at dinner tonight. We still have an incomplete conversation left to complete. I want to talk.” Who the fuck is this person, creepy.

“Excuse me, who are you?” I said replying to the text.

Soon I received another text, I wish there was a way where you can slap someone through the phone. So I can whip this jerk's sarcasticness, I read the text again and again as it said.

“I know we are cancelling our betrothal but I didn't expect you to forget me this easily. I am hurt , how can you forget your fiance.”

Dante Fucking Romano, how did he even get my number but before I could text back I received another text from him saying.

“See you at dinner love.” I left it on read. I hate this man with a big H in it.
