Linda’s POVRisks. Life was full of them, and honestly, I don’t think that we could run away from them. After that early morning jog that I could not finish because of the fear that was now gripping my heart, I now had to deal with a creepy note from god-knows who. And that was not all, this person had been watching me. This house was protected, like, very protected. So it caused goosebumps to cover my skin when I thought about the fact that the person who had made sure that I got the folder had managed to get a picture of me sleeping in my bed. The very scary thing was that it did not look zoomed or anything. It looked as if the person was right on the balcony that was separated by a glass door in my room. Could it be a guard that worked here and he wanted to blackmail me for some money? Could it be some random person from the internet? I was the wife of a CEO billionaire, and after Chris’s scandal, my face had been plastered on almost all of the internet and news channels. So y
Linda’s POVI could not help but chuckle a bit. I was grateful for our mother, she was sweet and very humble. Despite the fact that she was the wife of a rich and successful businessman, she was not prideful in the least. “Let’s hurry up and wrap this up before Mom gets suspicious, you know how she gets,” Ben advised, standing to his feet and placing his phone back into his pocket. “So, um…as I was saying, we need to find out who took the picture. From what it looks like, I don’t think it was zoomed.” The thought of someone standing right outside of the glass door that led to my balcony, watching me, sent a chill down my spine. The thought of calling the police and letting them handle this was tempting but I did not want to make this even worse than it already was. At least if I knew who was behind it, then I could involve the authorities, and even Fallon, because she worked with the FBI also. “That’s sick,” Ben murmured. “I’m so sorry,” He tried to comfort me, but I shrugged it o
Linda’s POVAfter breakfast, I was full and I helped my Mom clear the table. Our father had already left and for once, did not complain about being late for work. I think that was because Ben and I were back home after so long. But mainly, I think it was because Ben had taken the time to explain about Mitch to him and Mom. He had also explained about Fallon and how he and I were her puppets. But he did something that I was so happy about. Or he did not do something that I was so happy about, and that was not telling our parents about what he and I had done: the killings. When I was done helping Mom and she had gone out to get her hair done, Ben and I decided that it was time to get our plan into action. The plan to going to the head of security and finding the footage that could possibly reveal the identity of the person who had taken the photo of me sleeping. Ben led the way because honestly, I had forgotten where the security building was in the compound. As we headed in the dir
Linda’s POVThe building was one of those modern and fancy ones. It was very nice and when we walked into the lobby, we noticed how minimalistic it was.We headed towards the front desk, the air feeling colder due to the ACs blasting cold air everywhere. “Hi, how may I help you?” The lady behind the desk asked. She had curly hair and honey-colored eyes. “Um, my name is Ben Wells, and this is my sister.” My brother gestured towards me to speak. I flashed the lady a warm smile and then said, “My name is Linda Wells Kingston.” Her eyes perked up a bit at the mention of my last name. “You’re a Kingston?” She asked. My brows furrowed a bit and I nodded as a shaky smile danced on my lips. “Is something wrong?”“Oh, no.” She was quick to respond. “I was just a bit…impressed that you have that last name, considering they’re one of the richest and most influential families in the world.” She chuckled. I forced a smile, my brain reminding me about how terrible that family was. My heartbea
Linda’s POVIn the office of the guy, I could not help but look around. It was a nice place. The theme from the exterior of the building and from the lobby kept reoccurring. It was the same here, minimalism. Our seats were comfortable and so was the silence as the guy was sitting behind his desk, typing on his computer very fast. I felt like I should not interrupt him and I think Ben felt the same because he just stayed quiet. After a full minute or two of just sitting in silence, the guy finally spoke. “Hi,” He said, his voice gentle and respectful, though I did not think that making us wait for a minute or two was as respectful. “Hello there,” I replied to him. “Hi,” Ben said in response, adjusting himself in his seat. “I think the lady at the front desk already told you about our requests, right?” He nodded. “Yes, she did. That was what I was working on, I’m sorry for making you guys wait,” He apologized. “So would we be able to get the footage of our place from last night?”
Linda’s POVI know that we had agreed not to get the police involved at first, but let’s get this straight, the reason we had agreed to that was because we wanted to see who the guy was.But now that we knew, why would we do what he wanted us to do?We literally had his face captured on the CCTV, but the creepy part about it was the fact that it did not look like he was even trying to hide his face. It was like he wanted us to look for him. And that was what we were going to do, whether it was part of his plan or not. The man that was behind the desk was more than helpful, I know that he had done it because his company or maybe even his job was on the line, but he still did more than he should have done.He was the one who contacted the police and did everything that needed to be done. He sent them all that they requested, including the picture of the man.I was contemplating whether I should get Fallon involved, and then I remembered how she had made me do so much for her.I was li
Linda’s POVSitting in the room felt like it was a little too much. I felt like my life was being placed under the microscope. They were talking about me and what could have led to the guy in the white hoodie breaking in just to take photos of me.A few of the people at the table recommended that I was put under heavy protection, that maybe a planned attack was in the works, but I did not think so.“But who is this guy?” A very pale older man spoke, he was wearing a suit and looked rich. He also looked like he was the boss. He was asking about the guy in the white hoodie. Liam walked toward something that looked like a huge whiteboard. He then took a small remote in his hand and with a click, the whiteboard came to life.It was more of a TV, and on it was displayed the picture of the guy who was in the white hoodie. There were two pictures. One was the one that we had gotten from the security company and the other was from god-knows where.“Who the guy is isn’t really important, bu
Linda’s POVThe night was cold, but in a way that was nice. The cool air brushing against my skin paired with the beating of my heart was a dangerous mix.The full moon sat in the sky and the further I walked away from the car, the more nervous I became. My breathing was deep and my throat was dry. What was this guy’s plan for me? Why did he want to meet me? And most of all, why was he pretending to be a dead man? When I had crossed the road, I noticed that I was not alone. A few other people too were heading to the cinema, the only difference was that we had different goals. They were going to watch a movie, but I was going to meet a guy who could possibly be a killer?Come to think of it, being with all these people here still did not mean that I could be safe. That guy could walk up to me and shoot me in the face, and no one would be able to save me.I was beginning to think that this was a bad idea. But at least, Ben was right across the road, watching me. He had the police on sp
