“I was so worried about you,” Chris murmured, his voice laced with relief. “When you didn’t come back, I thought something terrible had happened.”

I leaned into his embrace as he held me in his arms once again, seeking solace in his warmth. “I’m sorry, I came to the bathroom and then I saw her.” I did not even have to say her name, I knew that Chris would know who I was talking about.

“Are you sure that you’re okay and that she did not do a thing to you?”

I shook my head, breaking the embrace. “I’m fine, I promise you.” I chuckled lightly as I put some of the rogue strands of my hair behind my ears.

“Did she say anything? You were in here for a while.”

My mind played Fallon’s words and I felt a bit nauseous. I could not stop thinking of the deal that she had offered me. It seemed so good but at the same time, what I had to do to get that deal sealed sickened me.
