Torn Loyalties

My mind raced with conflicting thoughts and emotions. On one hand, the idea of being free from Fallon's grip was tempting. To return to a normal life, to put all of this behind me…it was almost too good to be true.

But on the other hand, I could not shake the feeling that making another deal with her would only drag me deeper into her web of lies and manipulation.

So what was I going to do? Trust her and make the deal? Or just stick to the same deal that I already had with her?

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. “What…what is it that you want me to do?” I asked, my voice a bit low.

Her smile widened a glint of triumph in her eyes. “There’s a man, a powerful and rich man, who’s been causing me a great deal of trouble. This is a bit personal because he hurt me and my family, even though he does not know that. I want you to take care of him for me.”

My blood ran cold at her words. I had already crossed a line by taking lives at her behest, but to do it again…I was not
