Chapter Twenty-Nine
Aria left her meeting with the District Attorney and headed straight for the airport with the various case files she retrieved already on their way to her office in Seattle. The documents were too important to carry on so instead she had them couriered home.
Aycin would be touching down in a few minutes and looking at the dreadful Big Apple traffic before her, she resolved that he would have to wait on her. His interview was at 8 am on Friday morning at the hospital which was only a few minutes walk from the hotel she booked them into.
At first, they meant to fly back on Friday after his interview, but Aycin’s mood hadn’t improved much since the previous week, so after contemplation with Deagan, they figured a few days away might help him get over his funk.

He couldn’t see her like this, so strong, yet so despondent. There was a limit to anything good before it became bad, the challenge lied in recognising the line. Especially after having convinced yourself that the pain was worth it, that you deserved the suffering for protecting the people you love, for hurting them.Aycin had done a lot of growing up in the past seven months, he’d always considered himself mature after losing his parents, but being with Aria opened his eyes to a bitter truth he hadn’t allowed himself to recognise even when his parents died.The universe is as greedy as the life that thrives in it. For every “given”, something is taken. Aria was given a new chance at life, but her will to live it was taken from her in the same breath.
