Patricia sat nervously in front of the four interviewers, her gaze fixed on the floor, not daring to meet the eyes of the CEO, Marco Gabriel. She had never felt so doubtful of herself before; usually, she was confident and unafraid to look anyone in the eye. But in this case, it was different. She wasn't afraid of Marco, per se, but rather his decision. She feared that what she did in the restaurant would influence his decision not to employ her. She had her fingers crossed, hoping he would consider her with the certificates she presented to him. If only she hadn't spilled coffee on him, she would have sat confidently with no ounce of fear.
"Why the hell did he not send somebody?" she snorted silently, still hoping he would give her the job. It wasn't because she wanted to avoid going back to the agency; she didn't care about that anymore. But she had undergone extensive training, and she didn't want it to go to waste. Plus, she had had a childhood dream of being a secretary, just like her mom. It seemed like such a silly dream now, but she still hoped to make it a reality."Ahem!" Marco coughed, interrupting her thoughts. After going through her CV, he was genuinely impressed with what he saw. It seemed she was a brilliant girl - someone who had graduated with a 5.0 GPA from an elite university was not to be taken lightly. When he saw her in his company and then learned that she had come there for an interview, the thought of having her as his secretary immediately struck his mind. But he wanted to be sure he wasn't making a mistake. That's why he badly wanted to do her interview. Now that he had seen her certificates, he was even more impressed with his initial assessment. No lady had caught his attention like this before; he felt drawn to her."I have gone through your CV, and you seem to meet our requirements," he told her with a professional tone. "But you look like someone who is clumsy and tardy," he added, a sly smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.Patricia's heart sank as she realized he was referring to the coffee incident. She silently prayed he wouldn't use that to judge her."So why should the company employ you?" he asked, folding his arms across his chest.Immediately, her mind went down memory lane to when Chloe had trained her. She took a deep breath and cleared her throat.Flashback begin"Okay, let's try this again," Chloe said, taking a deep breath. "When you go for a job interview, they'll likely ask you why they should hire you. So, what's your answer?"Patricia thought for a moment before shrugging. "I dunno. Maybe I'll just charm them with my sparkling personality and stunning good looks?"Chloe rolled her eyes. "Right, because that's definitely going to impress them. Look, you need to give them a reason to hire you. Think about what skills and experience you have that make you a good fit for the job."Patricia nodded, then grinned mischievously. "Or, I could just tell them that if they don't hire me, I'll release a swarm of angry bees into their office."Chloe stared at her in disbelief. "What? No! That's not even remotely--"But before she could finish, Patricia burst out laughing. "Relax, I'm just kidding. I'll come up with something more professional, I promise."Chloe breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank God. Honestly, if you said that in an interview, they'd probably call security."Patricia chuckled. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Okay, how about this: I'm a hard worker with a proven track record of success in similar roles. I'm passionate about what I do, and I'm always looking for ways to improve and grow."Chloe nodded approvingly. "That's much better. And if all else fails, you can always fall back on my personal favorite: 'Because I'm awesome.'"Patricia laughed. "I'll keep that one in mind. Thanks, Chloe."Flashback ends.Patricia regained her confidence and gazed directly into Marco's brown eyes. She flashed a confident smile and responded, as Chloe had instructed her. “I don't have a simple answer to that question. If I were to answer truthfully, it might sound like a lot of bullsh*t, so I'll just be straight with you. I need money, which is why I'm here to work. Your company's growth will increase my salary, so I will work diligently to help your company thrive.”A dark-haired woman with a wrinkled face pushed her glasses up her nose and asked, “If money is your only motivation, how can we trust you not to sell our company's secrets for cash?”Patricia chuckled, “Are you implying that I would sell my body for money? Because to me, it sounds the same.”“That's not what I meant.” The woman responded.Patricia found the woman's comment amusing. “Well, to me, it is. I don't want to earn money in a way that I can't be proud of. So, why do something that will make me feel ashamed? I would rather work hard and earn money in a way that I can be proud of.”She thought to herself, "But if it comes back to the streets, I'll do more than just stealing, but not killing." She put on a fake smile, concealing her thoughts. The interviewer was impressed by Patricia's response and smiled at her. “Well, I'd be happy to have you as an employee.”Patricia smiled back kindly, “Thank you, ma'am. I appreciate the opportunity.”The CEO interrupted the interview, causing Patricia and the other interviewers to be taken aback. "Hold on a second," he said, "If you want this job, you need to make the perfect cup of coffee that will awaken my taste buds. Without my coffee, I can't function, and that's no joke. So, if you can make that happen, then the job is yours."Patricia and the other interviewers were shocked to hear such a strange request. While they knew about his coffee obsession, they had never seen him ask anyone to make coffee for him before. Even his former secretaries were surprised at his demeanor during this interview. Some of them had left because they couldn't handle his cold demeanor, while others stayed because of the allure of working for a handsome CEO.Patricia felt a mix of shock and happiness upon hearing the CEO's request. She was confident that she could make a good cup of coffee, thanks to John, who had taught her how to make coffee for himself. She silently thanked John for teaching her this skill."I'll do it, sir," Patricia said, determined to impress him. "Please show me where I'll be making the coffee."Marco nodded at the lady who collected his briefcase. "Ms. Evan, please show her the way," he instructed her politely, causing her to be taken aback. She was starting to develop mixed feelings, thinking that he was already catching feelings for the lady.As they walked to the coffee room, Ms. Evans told Patricia that the CEO liked his coffee bland. However, Patricia knew that she was lying and wondered why she would do that unless she didn't want Patricia to be employed. Ms. Evans was jealous of Patricia's round, plump figure and natural beauty, fearing that the CEO would be attracted to her.Patricia shrugged off her concerns and entered the coffee room. The room was painted in bright, cheerful colors, with an orange table in the center. The coffee maker was on a cabinet on the left side of the wall. Patricia found everything she needed to make the coffee and got to work.Carrying the tray with four cups of Americano, she walked back to the interview room. The other candidates wondered why she had done that since they weren't asked to. But Patricia hoped that her coffee would impress the CEO.Marco was lounging on the sofa with his leg crossed over, sipping his coffee silently. He took his time drinking it, causing Patricia to be tense with anticipation. The other interviewers enjoyed their coffee except for Ms. Evans, who spat it out and made a disgusted face."Ugh, this is so disgusting! I don't like it at all," Ms. Evans complained, sticking out her tongue.Patricia rolled her eyes at her outburst, knowing that she was going to cause drama."Sorry, Ms. Evans, but since you won't be my secretary, your opinion doesn't matter. Please clean up the coffee you spilled on the table. I like my workspace to be clean and free of germs," Marco said, sipping his coffee.Patricia couldn't help but smile, knowing that she had impressed him. "So, does that mean I'm hired?" she asked eagerly."I guess you are," Marco said with a smirk, impressed with her coffee-making skills."Hey, did you get the job?" Chloe asked eagerly, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.Patricia's lips drooped and her eyelids lowered as she stared back at Chloe. Chloe raised an eyebrow and waited for a response. But Patricia remained silent, emitting a deep sigh that made Chloe restless. She had never seen Pat like this before. Patricia was always emotionless and kept her feelings to herself. Finally, Patricia spoke. "Nobody showed me the picture of the CEO. I didn't know who he was until I got there," she said, her voice heavy with disappointment.Chloe chuckled. "You didn't care to ask? I thought you were always researching stuff before meddling into it. Well...I can't believe the almighty Patricia forgot to do her research," she teased."You're sounding like I'm not human," Patricia quipped.Chloe put her hands on her waist and said, "Oh, girl, you're not human. If you were, you would have been tired after going on countless missions. You're so good at keeping a stoic face, you make
Chloe was grooving to the beat, swaying her hips like a pro while multitasking as she cooked up a storm. Suddenly, she heard footsteps and looked up to see Patricia descending the stairs. Chloe couldn't help but stare as she took in Patricia's surprising attire. The woman who usually dons shorts and trousers was now wearing a navy-blue dress that stopped above her knees. Chloe was bewildered, wondering what could have led Patricia to wear something she considers slutty.Chloe's thoughts went haywire as she tried to figure out what could be the reason for the wardrobe change. Maybe Patricia was going for a date? But then again, Chloe knew that Patricia had a reputation for leaving boys broken and bruised. Chloe let out a deep breath, realizing that her imagination was running wild, and she needed to get to the bottom of Patricia's outfit choice.Chloe let out a deep sigh as she looked at Pat's attire. “Where are you headed, Pat?” She inquired, unable to contain her curiosity.“To work,
“Good morning, this is Marco Lux Company. Have you seen your goods?” Patricia said in a professional tone as she held the handset between her ear and shoulder.“Yes, I have. Thank you,” the woman on the other end replied before hanging up.Patricia yawned and ran her hands through her hair, already feeling exhausted. She had been making non-stop calls for three hours and had successfully contacted almost thirty customers. Most of them had received their goods, but fifteen had not.She groaned and flipped through the file to the next page, her eyes widening at the number of remaining callers. She started to laugh before banging her head on the table in frustration. She felt like crying - on her first day, she was already tired from just talking. "F**k my life," she muttered before banging her head again. She glared at the file with so much hatred that she flung it away. It landed near the door with a thud. She then picked up the landline and dialed a number.“If I may ask, why are you c
“Go to Avesni street and deliver the goods,” Marco commanded Patricia.Patricia resisted the urge to shoot him and retorted, “It is not my f**king job to deliver any goods.”Marco raised his index finger, “Don't curse in front of me.”Patricia yelled, “It is not my f**king job!” ignoring his warning.Marco said, “Stop swearing, I'm going to lay down some rules for you to follow.”Rolling her eyes, Patricia imitated Marco's tone, “Stop swearing, I'm going to lay down some rules for you to follow,” irritating Marco further. He glared at her and said, “Rule number one, don't annoy me.”Patricia chuckled, “That would be really difficult to do, I'm really an annoying person.”“Then you get fired, or punished in a way you can't explain,” Marco said, smirking evilly.“If you want to punish me mentally, physically, and emotionally, I'm way past that side. So nothing can affect me,” Patricia retorted.Marco laughed and waved his finger at her, “No, you can't explain. It is a lot more than that.
Patricia impatiently tapped her foot as she waited for the door to open. Finally, she heard the jingling of keys and the door swung open to reveal a short, muscular man with an abundance of tattoos. She couldn't help but smirk at the tattoo on his upper arm - two flaming swords crossed with a black scorpion perched on top.She forced a smile and looked up at him. His rugged face and scraggly ponytail made him look like he just walked off the set of a biker movie. "Who are you and what do you want?" he gruffly demanded, eyeing her up and down."Hey sexy," he wolf-whistled, licking his lips. Patricia rolled her eyes, unimpressed.Ignoring his advances, she pushed her way inside. "Can I come in?" she asked, taking a seat on the couch."Babe, you're already in," he replied, winking at her. "In fact, you're in my heart." Patricia couldn't help but roll her eyes again."Anyway," she said, "you ordered some jewelry from Marco Lux, right?""Yeah, so what?" he asked, clearly annoyed at the inte
"I'm sorry, what did you say?" Patricia asked with a smirk, not bothering to hide her amusement."You heard me right? You work for me now." She strutted back to the chair that was in front of him.He scoffed. "I'm not interested in working with someone who killed my friend.""Your friend? That dude is your friend?" She chuckled mockingly, using her gun to point at dead Dan. "Okay, I don't understand why you considered him a friend, but does he consider you one?" She raised her perfect, slender brows at him, giving him a lopsided smirk."He does in his own way, I think.""You think?" she quipped."See, I'm not working with you. Just kill me," he said, his voice firm.Patricia snorted. "For someone who is trying to escape torment, you're really dooming yourself to eternal suffering. The devil doesn't chill. I might get tired of tormenting you, but not the devil and his demons. Or do you think God will welcome a bloody criminal into his heaven?" She laughed. "Well, that is only if you acc
Patricia stood with one leg in the car and the other leg outside, her hand resting on the door. Marco's question had thrown her into deep thought, and she was unsure how to answer it. Hearing a tap on the window, she breathed out, regaining her composure. Slowly she stared at Marco, whose eyes were scanning her face, wondering what had made her zone out."My address?" he drawled with an eye roll. "I need your address to drop you home," he said in a 'durh' tone.It had not occurred to her that he would ask for her home address. Now thinking about it, she realized it was silly not to have considered it. How on earth was he going to drop her off at her house without knowing the address? She sighed, trying to come up with a solution. If she gave him her location and he found out that she lived in a mansion, it would be suspicious. She didn't want to go home by herself either. She mustered up a fake smile and said, "I'll direct you, just drive," before entering the car fully."Don't talk to
Patricia woke up to the sound of her alarm going off, accompanied by a throbbing headache. She sat at the edge of her bed and glanced at the ringing alarm clock. It was already five o’clock in the morning. She let out a yawn, stretching her hands above her head and still feeling sleepy from the all-night research on the highers. Unfortunately, she found nothing as they were too secluded.“It won't hurt to sleep a bit more,” she said to herself as she slowly dropped her body back onto the bed. Her intention was to sleep for just a few minutes before preparing for work, but those minutes turned into hours.Suddenly, there was a vigorous knock on her door, jolting her out of her dreamy state. With a groan, she pushed herself out of the warmth of her duvet and stood up. Groggily, she made her way to the door, scratching her eyes. The keys jingled as she unlocked the door. She pressed the silver doorknob down, dragging it forward and opening the door.“What do you want?” she asked an angry-
