I land in Edmonton and pick up the rental car she booked for me. It’s nothing special, a white, 2 door Camry. It will do the trick though. She didn’t book me a hotel, as we weren’t sure where I’d be going from here so I quickly g****e and find some interesting places. The Hotel MacDonald, old but expensive… just because the Queen spent a night there does not mean a room is worth $1400 a night! Then there’s the Fantasy Land hotel in West Edmonton mall. I need to come back with Duane when this is over! The rooms are themed, there’s a water park and amusement park in the mall as well, but for just me it doesn’t make sense to stay there. I manage to find a small, out of the way, motel for cheap, and head there.

Pulling up to the parking lot I am hesitant to even get out of the car. The Bates Motel looks like the Ritz compared to this place, but it’s cheap and after the cost of the flight I need cheap.
