Chapter 2: Definitely Maybe (1)

From the other line, Serina was confused by Paul’s shock. We just met yesterday, weren't we? She thought about it.

"Yeah? Hey what's with the tone? Your voice sounds in disbelief. Hey don't divert the topic, you're late idiot, I’ve been waiting for like a lot here." She annoyingly said.

"Is this true?" cried Paul, few thoughts came into his mind, he could not explain what was happening at the moment, he felt like a dream. Doubts filled his head and confusion surfaced on his face.

"What was true? Oh, look at this gentleman pretending to be crazy, hurry up." Seri’s Voice in static was keeping louder in Paul’s head, the messed up emotion beneath his mind was twisting his sanity, all the pain and sorrow was voided, replaced by confusion, doubt and feeling of oddness, yet at the same time he felt, relief? He unconsciously laughed and tried to confirm his doubts.

"Haha! Is this recorded, is it a prank? Because it was not funny." He mumbled, but seeing the name and number dial, it was confirmed that this was Seri’s contact, as he was in the state of confusion, twisting thoughts on his mind blew up and started to make the surrounding heavy and spiral, Paul’s vision and mind started to gain pain, his movement became wobble, that he started to goes into the corner of the room. He stared at the phone for a while, trying to discern the bizarre thing happening to him.

"Alright, stop bantering, I'll wait for you at the studio, you can rest for today if you wanted." Seri said on the phone, sighing at her friend's antics. She was worried about that guy acting weird, he knew Paul had a weird side of him, but this is new.

The man who had lost love gained it again another day, the sorrow and pain was in vain, only to be replaced by confusion. I was there on September 27th, I was there crying.

Then Paul sighed.

“Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!” He then hysterically laughs, all of it in one laugh. His body started to gain momentum again, his energy was vitalized and one goal came into his mind.

Is that really Serina?

Without further ado, Paul's body moved in reflex, He did not even try to get prepared and only washed his drowsy face, grabbed one of the dark clothes in his closet and immediately rushed his body downstairs. Noticing that his body was rather lively, his rough state yesterday was not the same,  all the heaviness in his body disappeared, as if it had never been there, then he realized, why is his body running like nothing happened to him in the past 3 days?

Walking towards the door, his mother, Laura Simons. She saw him running from the stairs

"G-good morning! " Her mother looked at him, and greeted him with a smile. It was unusual like last time, her mother always tried to give Paul a usual silence for the loss of Serina and always tried to cope up with her son’s sorrow, as a nurse she always tried to help, but at those times, she never knew how to comfort him. but right now she was in her usual mood, like there is nothing happening.

He felt confused, an unfamiliar strangeness evoked in him, a feeling of something unexplainable was showing in front of him, as his pupils trembled and mouth became pale, he remembered the thing he did last night, and how he ventured up on that oak tree and scream on it after the death of Serina Green that day.

Then he remembered how he grieved and lost a part of him, Serina Green died, my childhood friend, and the love of his life. He remembered vague details starting on the first day of September until the end.

He started contemplating the scenarios that happened to him. "That kind of situation can’t be a dream, it was too detailed." He said to himself, all those things were too real to be a dream, he was in it, he felt it and most importantly, all of those things that happened, he  even wished to be a dream but it was not, it was a tragic fate.

"Mom, what's the date today?" He asked,In his mind weird things started to play out since he woke up, he even thought that he was dead due to emotional breakdown or even died on the bed because of depression and tiredness, yet the moment he woke up, Seri is still alive calling him every morning since the start of September, the alarm clock was still ringing even due he thought that he smash it while ago,, her mother usual attitude was still the same,, and lastly when he looked at his pale hands there is no traces of red swollen fist that had lots of scrapes and abrasions, athough it was dumb to think that when Seri died, he tried to punch the oak tree in brute force. Fortunately, he fell asleep and was found by Elliot and Miya.

"The date?" Her mother asked, slightly confused by the question.

"Yes." He said firmly, perching his ears from one theory that came up in his mind, if this weird thing is happening, probably there is an unnatural force involved.

"It was September 5th." Her mother reminded him, Paul's eyes widened and he was shocked, He remembered what his mother told him last night,

“Tomorrow is a new month.”

If I am back in the first week of September, does it mean?

I time-traveled…

It may be absurd and ridiculous, yet that was the only answer Paul could think of, if I really did travel through time, does it mean...Serina is really Alive!!!

"H-hey what's with you?" Her mother confusedly asked, looking at the face of her son, it was pale and sweat was floating in his forehead, and a bit of worry surfaced on her face.

"Nothing mom, just woken up." Paul answered, then as he ran wildy outside their home, the morning was gleaming brightly for his day,  his heart was beating wildly as he accelerated, he was expecting something to be true in his mind, he was only focused on one person he wanted to see, Serina, if maybe the time did go back, it may be a fairy-tale, a fiction that was hardly to be believed, but for him, he wished this was all true.

He was glad that he came back.

Exhausted from running for more than 10 minutes of marathon, he reached Serina’s house, it was just actually near the neighbourhood, where if you can walk it will only reach for about 15 minutes, Serina house was quite extensive, It had 2 floor story cemented home that was surrounded by iron grails, a balcony at the second floor where Serina always view the place, the house was painted in white, it gives a classic and plain tone, yet it was grand for average people, after-all  Serina’s father is known person in the K-Town, it was that the house he lived in was this much.

Paul was sweating buckets, although he goes to Serina house everyday, the feeling of tension and expectation to see the one he was looking for made him tremble, what if it was not true, i'll just wake up? What if....damn it was now or never, he immediately rang the doorbell, and tense in the situation to confirm his theory.

*ding!* *dong!*

The sound of the bell creeped inside Paul's mind, along with the opening of the door moments later.
