Chapter 5 - The Nightshade Pack

"The Nightshade Pack is one of the oldest and most formidable werewolf packs, next to Silver Moon Pack and Shadowfang Pack. Founded centuries ago, the Nightshade Pack actually originated from the Shadowfang Pack when a powerful set of twin alphas were born. Fenrir and Faber Nightshade were meant to co-lead the Shadowfang Pack.

Legend has it that Faber and Fenrir fell for the same she-wolf and when she ended up being fated to Faber, Fenrir Nightshade chose to start his own pack. Since Fenrir Nightshade founded the pack centuries ago, the pack has long been revered for its strength, cunning and unyielding resolve.

Fenrir Nightshade was a warrior of unparalleled skill and prowess, feared and respected by all who crossed his path. With his loyal followers by his side, he carved out a vast territory in the heart of the wilderness, establishing the Nightshade Pack as a dominant force to be reckoned with.

Under Fenrir's leadership, the Nightshade Pack thrived, its members honing their skills in combat and survival to become fearsome warriors in their own right. They were known for their fierce loyalty to their alpha and their unwavering commitment to protecting their territory from any who dared to challenge their dominance.

But with power came enemies, and the Nightshade Pack faced its fair share of challenges over the centuries.

Rival werewolf packs, vampire clans, and other supernatural beings sought to test their strength against the formidable Nightshades, but none could match their ferocity and determination. Despite their reputation as fierce warriors, the Nightshade Pack also had a rich cultural heritage, with traditions and rituals passed down from generation to generation.

They were deeply connected to the land and the spirits of the wilderness, drawing strength from the earth itself and the creatures that inhabited it. As the centuries passed, the Nightshade Pack endured countless trials and tribulations, but their bond remained unbreakable. Each challenge only served to strengthen their resolve and solidify their reputation as one of the most powerful werewolf packs in existence.

Today, the Nightshade Pack continues to thrive under the leadership of Alpha Raven Nightshade, a descendant of Fenrir himself. With her keen intellect, strategic acumen, and fierce determination, she's rummored to lead her pack with grace and strength.

However, in the last 5 years very little information has come out about the pack or even Alpha Raven herself. I can't find any information on pack financials or even any proof that they have attended summits or gatherings between other packs during the last few years either. I reached out to Alpha Damien of their neighboring pack, Bloodmood Pack. I could sense tension between the two packs, but he didn't divulge much information. It felt like he wanted to say more, but was unable to."

"He has invited us to stay in his pack for the next month", Mikhail cut in.

"So maybe we'll learn what he couldn't say over the phone soon." Offered Marcus.

"Something just doesn't feel right about the pack as a whole", Maya Swiftwind, a silver wolf with stormy grey eyes - the group's tech wiz - cut in.

"I looked before we left and I couldn't find any recent social posts from any pack members. They slowed down starting about 5 years ago and then roughly 3 years ago stopped completely. There are even very few emails going out. It's like the pack has cut themselves off from outsiders. The most recent emails have been between Alpha Raven and Alpha William of Frostbite Pack in the north. But they even sound off on Raven's side. Like she doesn't actually care about the correspondence, but is only doing it out of necessity."

"What were they discussing?" Kira Frostfang, a pristine white wolf with turquoise eyes, inquires. As the niece of The Frostbite Pack's Alpha she was curious how her family's pack might be involved in their current mission. Are they going to experience any kind of trouble or danger? Kira worked as their language expert and was highly attuned to speech and body patterns displaying disceet.

"Fighting and hunting techniques of the north." Maya replies sounding perplexed. Aurora internally rose her eyebrows at that.

"Why would they want to compare notes with a pack in the frozen tundra of the north, when they are surrounded by forrests?"

"I was confused as well" agreed Maya, "but like I said, it seemed like Raven didn't really care about the answer. I can show you when we stop, but it really seemed as if Alpha William's answers weren't as important as Alpha Raven keeping a line of communication open between them."

"Alpha?" Marcus cut in. "Yep, let's look when we stop in Bloodmoon Pack. We should be there in a few hours." Mikhail responded as he sped up slightly.

Aurora thought she knew where this was headed and she hoped she was wrong. Not only would they be dealing with odd supernatural creatures and a pack rummored to be on the verge of trying to create chaos with the humans, but they could also be dealing with a cyber attach on all werewolf kind. Maybe even all of the species. They could handle it, but it would turn the mission into a world-wide mission involving other species and continents.

"Sounds like we may be fighting on multiple fronts" piped in Liam Ironhide, their resident muscle and firearms enthusiast. Liam, with his deep gray fur flecked with streaks of silver, looked at Rylan - the 8th and final member of the group - with his piercing green eyes, gleaming with excitement. Rylan Darkpaw, known for his fighting techniques and worldly knowledge of other pack's techniques sent a wolfy smirked his way as his dark brown wolf yipped with excitement.

"Alpha, can we call on Captain Silverman?" Rylan asked, nearly begging. "If this is multi-continental, we may need his assistance."

"We'll see where our information takes us when we get to Bloodmoon." the Alpha responded.

Over the years, as Aurora and her comrades in the Order carried out their missions, they forged deep bonds with werewolves from various packs, forming alliances that transcended the boundaries of clan and hierarchy.

Among their closest allies are Alphas, Betas, and Gammas of each pack, but it wasn't just them. From pack elders to young pups eager to prove themselves, many were willing to assist the Order when called.
