17: Ashallia
As they stood in the lounge, she looked up at Jason, his dark eyes studying her face as he touched it lightly. She felt nervous, and blushed when his hand moved from her cheek, brushing one of her curls back from her face. Jason dragged himself away from her, as hard as it was, and let her have some space. It had taken all of his willpower to restrain himself when he saw her blushing and all wound up like that, so close to him, but he was wary of spooking her and driving her away. Jason held her close to him as her breathing slowed and she drifted peacefully into sleep. He smiled, breathing her in. She was perfect, and this was perfect, her laying here in his arms. Shoving harder, she tried again, "Get off me!" her voice cracked as she said it, and she refused to meet his gaze. He grabbed her wrists, pinning them either side of her, "Look at me," he growled, but she didn't, so he released one, grabbing her chin and tilting her face towards him, and clearly saw the tears in her eyes. "What happened?" he asked again, his voice softer now, but she just shook her head. He dropped his hands and stepped back, releasing her, and she stared up at him a moment before she moved, quickly opening the door and leaving his room. He heard the door to her room shut hard and he swore under his breath, but didn't follow. She clearly wasn't ready to let him in.
