Chapter 67: Rich

I wake in the hospital room. Alone.

I can hear the commotion of an active emergency room outside my door. I look around, trying to remember how I got here. It takes a moment, then it all comes rushing back.

Am I dead? That would explain why I’m alone. Where is Emlyn? Where is my family?

I sit up, realizing that I’m hooked up to a bunch of wires. I begin ripping them out of my arms and off my face before standing up. I’m wobbly on my feet and the screeching of the machines is hurting my ears. I begin walking to the door, holding on to the bed when a doctor or nurse, I’m not sure, comes rushing in.

“Alpha, you need to get back into bed.” He says, coming to hold me up and keep me steady.

“Where is everyone? What happened?”

“What do you remember, Alpha?” He asks me.

I look down at him. “I remember that Canyon Ridge was under attack. I came to protect the pack and my mate, Emlyn. Where is she? I thought she’d be here when I woke up.” I look at him. “I’m not dead, am I?”

“No Alpha. Y
