306. Lying To Her

The glint in his eyes and the suggestive smile on his face had Heidi's heart racing.

She shuffled backward until her back hit the bed's headboard. “Hey, don't come close. Lucas Harrison, don't even think about it.”

“Think about?” He reached out and swept her hair aside.

Heidi glared at him. “You have already taken a bath, so get out.”

But the stubborn man didn't listen to her warning. He leaned forward until there wasn't a space of breath between them.

Trapping her to the bed, he brushed his lips against hers. “Why do you seem mad, Heidi?” He whispered.

Heidi swallowed, praying he couldn't hear her heartbeat. “Who said I'm mad?”

“Your actions,” he responded. “You've been like this since morning.”

“Is it because I didn't return to the hospital last night?” Lucas added softly. “I'm sorry…”

Last night?

What about this afternoon?

Her mind went back to those photos with him and Tracy and Heidi shut her eyes, taking in a deep breath.
