352. Fearing The Future

She wouldn't rebel against her family to be with him again.

The words tugged at his heart, hearing them directly from her mouth.

At the end of the day, she'd always choose to leave him rather than stay.

Maybe he hadn't tried hard enough. Maybe she hadn't totally forgiven him yet.

“I also don't think rebelling against your family is the best option…”

She stared at him with confusion.

“There’s another way we can be together without any trouble from your family,” Lucas continued.

“What's the other way?” She asked.

Lucas shrugged. “Getting into their good books.”

Her frown disappeared. She now looked uncertain as if what he said would never work. “I've told you before-”

“Minds can be changed, Heidi,” he said. “Do I have to kneel and beg for your grandfather's forgiveness? It's easy.”

“Will you kneel and beg for his forgiveness?” She gave him an astonished look.

“If that will make him approve of us.”

She chortled at his words, her smile mixed with the sad look in her eyes. “That's so
