56. Get Off Her Back

From the side view of her eyes, Heidi sighted the glinting knife descending.

“Ahhhh!” She screamed with all her might, shutting her eyes.

Then a loud crash came from behind her followed by the sound of someone groaning.

In her panicked state, Heidi didn't realize that the grip on her neck had loosened, until she felt a thud.

Turning around, her heart did a summersault as she came face to face with Lucas.

Holding a broken branch in his hand, his whole being oozed off a dark dangerous aura, his murderous eyes fixed on the bleeding guy who had passed out on the ground.

Heidi was shaken to the core, not believing her eyes.

She literally jumped on the man, hugging him tightly, her shoulders trembling with fear.

Lucas let go of the tree branch. His heart beat uncontrollably as he hugged her back.

“I- I was so scared, Lucas.” Heidi sobbed. “If you hadn't come, would I have lost my life?”

“It's okay. You're safe now.” Lucas stroked her back.
