Bryan entered his room with a sour face, banging the door behind him. He felt like crying. Just last night, he had been so happy that he finally found her and now, she was so close but she no longer looked at him like he was the only one in her eyes. Why did she have to keep asking after his father?! His father was a grown man who could take care of himself but he was still a kid…

His face squeezed up at the thought of that. No, he wasn’t a kid. He was just a six-year-old boy who needed a motherly figure. He didn’t want to cry but he felt if he didn’t make his hurt look real, she wasn’t going to believe him. Slumping on the bed, he sulked, waiting for her to walk right through his door; and she did. It was barely minutes when she entered.
