Suspicious

Scarlett's POV:

I froze in my spot either in shock or excitement knowing my mom actually survived all those pain. I couldn't believe it. Max pulled away from me, his soft gaze meeting my confused ones, tears had found their way out of my eyes, one which Max wiped off with his hand.

" I understand, I...I felt the same way too,"

I gave him a nod still recovering from my frozen state, letting out a muffled laugh that got interrupted by my sobs that slipped out of my mouth.

" Where's she?"

It was like I lost my voice with the way it sounded. Max simply nodded and took my hand into his before walking away with me following behind him.

Surely, his heart was blissful as it should, which made mine blissful too.

Getting to my mom's ward, I saw her sitting down on the bed, her hysterical eyes meeting with mine the moment I stepped in and instantly, my vision blurred with the uncontrollable tears that poured out of my eyes.
