Chapter 17: Warning

A long silence.

I didn't know why she never said anything to me after she heard what I had told her. I didn't want to get her pity or sympathy for what happened to me that day.

As I closed my eyes, the image of my mother screaming in pain while her body turned into pieces made me horrified. It was the most traumatic part of my life I was hoping I would forget.

“She's the only woman I have. She's the only one who treated me with morals. I've tried to investigate what happened that day---”

“Aren't you scared to find out the truth? What do you think will happen after you discover the culprit? Are you sure you can give justice for your mother's death?” She didn't let me finish what I was going to say to her. My lips parted in disbelief when she stood up and then moved away from me. “Don't you even think the culprit might be powerful that's why your mother's death was never investigated?”

“I'm guessing he's powerful. The investigation stopped---”

“Then, better stop investigating everything
