Chapter 40: Because of you

Whoever Lady Maureen was, she made me panic because of what Marcus had said to me. I never thought there was anything worse than Sarah. However, I didn't want to judge someone as long as I didn't see her because I only heard one comment about her.

I wasn't the type who would easily believe me as long as I didn't see the reason why I should avoid that person. If Lady Maureen was on her way in the pack, she might be here today.

I didn't know why she was out of the pack, and it was Sarah who had been acting like a queen when King Edward brought me into his pack. I needed to investigate the facts because I had a feeling there might be a war between them. I didn't like to be their middle lady because I wasn't desperate to be the Lycan Queen.

“Sarah is pathetic. She's losing her credibility if she does not stop attacking Ashianna.”

I halted munching my food when I heard the concubines mention me. I acted like I was focusing on eating, but I couldn't stop eavesdropping on their conversation.
