After the phone call, Alejandro looked conflicted and didn't touch his meal again. I'm sure whatever he heard on the phone was disconcerting for him to act that way.

And the fact that he evaded my question and decided to deal with the problem alone worried me. The food tasted bland in my mouth after that, and soon, I pushed it away, and we left.

The ride back to the hotel was silent, and I kept glancing at Alejandro worriedly. His brows were set in a furrowed line, and it was clear that something was eating at him.

As soon as we entered our hotel room, he began pacing. “We need to leave,” he said before he resumed his pacing.

“Are you sure you don't want to talk about it?” I asked him.

“Yeah.” I watched as he stiffly walked over to the window and looked out. His posture was rigid, and I sighed as I walked up to him.

Standing behind him, I wrapped my arms around his waist, my cheeks pressing against his back.

“Alejandro…” I whispered.

“Anna,” he replied, resting a hand
