79. Past Fiance

Seeing Nicolas' astonishment made the woman smile sadly. "Oh, dear! I knew you'd look at me like that," she said.

Nicolas was shocked to suddenly be called 'darling' by a woman he was not familiar with...

"You don't remember me, Nicolas, of course. You have amnesia." The woman said softly, her voice colored with a mixture of relief and sadness. Nicolas looked at her, his eyes filled with confusion. How could he possibly remember this woman?

"When I heard the media reporting it, I was very, very shocked," the woman continued, her words shaking with emotion. "I wanted to come directly to you, but I was in France at the time."

Confusion filled Nicolas' mind as he tried to recall the moment he got engaged. He had no memory of such a relationship, but something about Adelia's presence felt familiar

"Adelia Seyfried," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I was your fiancée in the past."

Nicolas felt a jolt of surprise that shook him. Ex-fiancée? What was this woman talking about?
