87. Our Business

Dianne pursed her lips together. This guy looked like a teenager. "He's gone," she replied, glancing at her watch. She didn't know how Nicholas managed to make time for these stupid meetings, which were usually only about half an hour long, but she doubted he would mind that they were cut short. She had more important things to worry about. Like finding a job.

"Oh." The boy looked genuinely disappointed, but Dianne could' tell if it was because she dismissed him or if he truly was expecting Nicholas to come back. Either way, she didn't care. If she ever needed a boyfriend, she knew exactly who she'd pick.

"Are there any questions you have?" she asked, trying to sound less irritated.

"No, sorry," he mumbled. "Just wanted to see if he was here. See you later!" And with that, the young man rushed out of the office.

Dianne shook her head as she glanced over at the clock hanging on the wall behind her. Nicholas was late, and he better hurry up if he didn't want her to call his boss to comp
