MADELINE’S POV

The black jeep sped into the mansion, bringing some fresh air, and Madeline inhaled sharply as it flew in through the open windows.

They were finally back!

Today had been an exciting day as she and Lady Delilah had begun to put their plan into action.

They had gone to an unusual location. The outskirts of town, hoping to meet some traders or men who could assist them with their mission.

Madeline had watched as Lady Delilah spoke a strange language to the local men, explaining what would happen.

The mistress, who appeared tense, had relaxed and seemed happy as she hugged the men and exchanged farewell pleasantries before walking back towards their car on the lonely road.

Because she had watched the proceedings from the car, Madeline had no idea what the negotiations had been about or how much Lady Delilah had paid the men.

But then the mistress had briefed her, however, and she was satisfied with the explanations.
