Chapter Forty

I felt Brad kiss my forehead before the door opened and Rufus’s soft footsteps sounded. His heavy body landed on top of me, but I pretended to be asleep. It was early and my body was tired. Brad had to go to work early. I heard the door click close and then opened my eyes.

“Hey buddy,” I rubbed his head.

Rufus opened one eye, “You’re still tired aren’t you?”

“We have to get up we have things to do.” Well, I did. I was going to leave Rufus with the neighbour. He liked dogs and kept Rufus when Sydney had her party.
