Thank you for your patience while this story has been on hold for a bit. I had a family emergency that required my full attention for much longer than I anticipated. I am back to the keyboard now!
I am writing regularly again and editing as quickly as possible. My regular posting schedule will be twice a week as I build up my chapters. I hope to be back to a daily posting schedule by the end of July. I appreciate all who read and continue to help me grow as a new writer. As always constructive comments are always welcomed and appreciated.LindseyWe got to our hotel in record time. Reece ushers me straight to the very large bathroom and lifts me on to the sink to inspect my arm. He looks terrified, like it wasn’t just a little bit of glass. For some reason this tantrum of Dominique’s has affected him more than anything else she has tried so far.“It doesn’t look like there is any glass in your arm. I’m so sorry about that, I should have been able to protect you better.” He gently caresses my face, looking almost broken.“I already told you, don’t do that. She is a leech that will not go away easily. We’ll figure something out, but this isn’t your fault, it’s hers. Now, help me out of this dress before I get blood all over it. I think there might be some pieces of glass stuck in here.” I gesture toward my cleavage and give him my best flirtatious look trying to distract him. Thank God it works. I watch his eyes dilate as they roam from my face and down my neck.I slowly work my shoulder straps down exposing my breasts. M
ReeceI roll over and stretch, reaching for Lindsey, hoping to get a little more sleep before we leave for our honeymoon. As I reach around the bed, though, I can't find her. I shoot up, my grandfather’s words ringing in my head. I frantically look around the room and find her sleeping at the dining table with the tabloids and magazines scattered everywhere.I look at her face and it is clear she has been crying. The tabloid under her cheek explains why. Dominique has been cornering me as often as possible for a month now. Showing up everywhere I go. Even Brandon can’t find the leak in our operation. I think it is my grandfather, but we have kept things from him as well, so I know it’s not only him or he has several people reporting to him.The tabloid under her face is a picture of me and Dominique the day before I met Lindsey. My grandfather talked me into having dinner with Dominique and she got sloppy drunk and was hanging all over me. Of course her picture-hungry mongrels caught
LindseyOn the way home from the hotel I am still super pissed. I sat as far away from him as I possibly could. I wasn’t sure what I wanted, but space is something I needed to sort out my thoughts. I was glad he let me go to the room to change by myself. He at least understood that I would put up a good front out in public, but our fight hasn’t even begun. With everything I overheard, both of our companies would suffer if we didn’t get this situation figured out. We could deal with Fabian easily, but the mess with his grandfather was going to be far more complicated and Max said I would be needed to help make it right. I am not going to let the innocent people who rely on us for their livelihood suffer because of the greedy people in the mix. That is my only motivation right now for being helpful. Max said I am needed. And so far, he and James are the only people who haven’t lied to me or kept things from me, so my loyalty is with them right now. While I dress, I chose something that
LindseyI have Anton escort Fabian downstairs and out the front door with strict instructions to company security that he is not allowed to enter without an appointment and prior approval from Reece or myself.I have a feeling I know where he is going to go with his complaints about us and we need to get ready for that, but first the bimbo trio needs to be dealt with. I grab Angie and tell Reece to take her place sorting with Anton. He looks hurt, but I am not explaining myself. Yes, he deserves to be punished, but I also want him nowhere near these three if I can help it. Angie is even crazier than I am and the two of us together should get our point across.“How dare you make us wait this long, Mr. Raines will be hearing about this.” Brittany jumps up from her chair using her best superior tone.“Sit down.” Angie snaps at her.“You stupid gold digger, you have no authority here. Mr. Raines will have you out on your a** faster than you can blink, so live it up while it lasts.” Brittan
LindseyThe drive to the marina was pleasant. Reece kept pulling me close, kissing me, running his hands all over me, but as soon as I started to reciprocate he would stop and give me time to cool down. This was his version of punishment for me being angry with him and keeping me at a distance all day. It wasn’t fair. I was so wound up by the time we were able to get out of the car, I didn’t know if I wanted to punch him or f**k him more.As soon as the car was in park, I jumped out of my side and started slowly walking down the docks. I had no idea where I was going, but I didn’t want to be in Reece’s proximity yet. I know he thinks this is funny, but my stubbornness wants him to apologize for keeping me in the dark. He needs to be truly sorry, not just saying the words to get in my pants.I made it all the way to the end of the dock and just looked out over the water. I’m sure Reece was just letting me wander and waiting for me to turn around and ask for his help. Well, hell will fre
Angie“Wait! What do you mean the police have been by? How long have I been out of it?” I look between Brandon and Anton. I couldn’t have been sitting here more than ten minutes.“You have been lost in your own thoughts for about two hours now.” Brandon looks at me with a softness in his eyes.“Have you both been inside?” I look between the two of them again.“Yeah. I walked through with the police. It seems like whoever was here was looking for something specific. My guess is probably something to do with your connection with Lindsey and finding out more about her life before Reece.” Anton tells me.“You are both coming to my place tonight. There is no way I am leaving you, either of you, up for grabs for something else to happen. Someone has already been sent to your place Anton to check it out as well. You are both moving into my building. We have too much to lose and you both are very important.“I just don’t understand. If they want information, why break in and trash my place? Wh
AngieAfter a not so restful night of tossing and turning. I finally get up and make my way to the bathroom. I figure I might as well just get up and start my day.The guest room Brandon has me in what looks like a luxury suite at a hotel. All the finest furnishings, the softest bed and duvet imaginable, but a cold feeling like it’s all for show. He clearly doesn’t have guests often. After a shower in the en-suite bathroom, I got dressed in my fluffy pajamas and pulled open my laptop. I had a few leads with these guys. Their internet presence is not very well protected. And all the arm candy they pay to keep them pleasured post far too often with locations services on. It has been pretty easy to track movements and possible associates. I’m starting to put together a timeline over the last 6 months for Eyler, Old Man Raines and all of the other board members. I know that Lindsey likes Reg and his wife, but I figure I should cover all of my bases. The one person who I did not expect to c
50 Angie We put together the timeline of travel with the timeline for purchases. The only difference is Old Man Raines made a few additional stops. About once a month he stayed in Florida for an extra two days before heading out to whichever of the three destinations he was scheduled to be at. “What’s in Florida? Anton asks, looking over to Max clearly hoping for an easy explanation. “Not sure. It could be many things. He has always traveled there, always taken mistresses there. He has a few business friends that have boats and oceanfront properties.” Max shrugs his shoulders. “He could be doing anything during the time he spent there. He is clearly good at covering his tracks.” “Well, we have enough to be getting on with. I need to get Reece and Lindsey caught up with what we do know. Maybe one of them will be able to help us with that question.” “Are you really going to interrupt them?” Max chuckles. “Do you want to do it?” Brandon looks at him with an eyebrow raised
