BETRAYAL OF A FRIEND

"It's nothing mom, don't bother yourself." Susan scoffed with a sly smile and peeked at her sisters who winked at her in return.

Instead, the woman's worry grew even more intense. She heaved a deep sigh and took Susan by the hand, leading her to a seat behind them.

"You girls should leave us. I want to have a word with your sister." She said, turning to the other girls. "We'll be with you both shortly."

"But mom…" Herald said, countering her mother's order, but what followed was a loud noise as her mother yelled at her.

"No buts! I said leave!"

"Okay, okay… it's fine. We will leave, but remember your promise." Herald retorted hesitantly and dragged Malia with her as they trooped out. They stopped right at the door and winked at Susan to stick to the plan, when their mother had turned her gaze to the other side.
