Chapter ten

It's been a couple weeks since Carrie moved into the guest room. It's been fun with her around. Both of them are now distracted by my body. I could be cooking at the stove and hear them gasp when I need to lean down to check in the oven. They even watch me do my workout in the morning. 

My mother was over for dinner a few nights ago and laughed at the two of them. They had their eyes on my every move like they were hypnotized. I wasn't even putting on a show for them. I was caught up in the cooking and my mother had to tell me about it. 

I was currently on the phone with the warden from the prison my father was in. "You're sure he's dead and all threats are gone," I ask in a choked whisper.

"Yes, he was caught up in a prison gang fight and another prisoner stabbed him with a shiv," the warden says softly. "All of those who followed him are in solidarity confinement."

Wasn’t she only 4 weeks pregnant, now 6 weeks since it’s a couple of weeks later? Kicks cannot be felt at least before 16-24 weeks of pregnancy.
