At the words he said, I tense up. I can't help but furrow my brows in anticipation of more information, but instead, he moves from our position and stands, leaving me by myself to kneel and stare at the chilly floor.

"I need an explanation, Xander, and what you just said has only fanned the flames further!" I say, "I'm trying to mend myself," and I don't care if anyone hears us right now because all I'm trying to do is catch this young man's attention so I can finally ask him the questions I want to hear him answer.

I catch him sighing and fidgeting with his hair before he starts cursing again.

“Once again, I guess I have no option." After speaking those things, he draws me closer to him, and then he whispers something in my ear that almost made me feel lightheaded if it weren't for my want to get his answers.

"I've been cursed since the time I was born, and I'm not lying when I say that, but the reason I'm still alive is that I'm not a vampire like you believe I am."
