PROLOGUE

On the highest mountain in the woods, as the wind blew strongly rustling the trees, and the blue rays from the full moon illuminated the landscapes and grasses, two figures could be seen, completely naked speaking in hushed whispers.

“It’s getting worse by the day. I am worried about what to do. Blood will be shed…. lots of it” One of the two figures, the female who was still sweating and panting after hours of running in the woods.

Her companion shook his head slowly, and wrapped his arms around her. “It won’t get to that my love. I am sure it won’t’

“But what about us?” She could not help but ask, the same question which had been heavy in her heart all day as they were together, “What would be of us? We can’t have more than these stolen moments and if they find out, we will be good as dead”

With a heavy sigh, then laid a kiss on her forehead, hoping he was able to hide how worried and scared he was.

He knew what was coming. He knew what would happen here in the next twenty minutes…. he had seen it unfold before his eyes as he was running in his wild form.

He cupped his lover’s chin and tilted her head so he could stare into her blazing yet unique purple eyes.

“We need to do something as soon as possible. It’s up to us”

“How is it up to us? We failed the goddess already. Would she listen or hear our cries?”

He thought about that for a second. Indeed, they have failed the moon goddess.

Their instructions were very simple. Don’t get attached. But despite several months of trying to avoid each other, they had still fallen in love and ended up together.

Now they could not fulfill their goals. To bring peace between the two strongest werewolf packs.

He knew what they had to do, and even as the thought came to his mind, she saw it in his eyes and gasped in horror.

“No. You can’t be thinking of that. No” she shook her head frantically, “I won’t allow it. There has to be another choice”

“Listen to me. We had a duty which we could not fulfill. We have to take responsibility. It's either that or the rogues will come after us. And you know hat would be worse.”

“What?”

He nodded, “Yes, they are catching up and we don’t have much time. We have to”

She knew he was right. Even as her heart rebelled against the thought of ending it, losing it all, including the love of her life. She knew that this was the right thing to do. And they would never ever see each other again.

The thought alone pierced her heart painfully like the sharp edge of a spear, and left her gasping for breath.

“I can’t” She murmured; eyes blind with unshed tears as she clung to him, her claws digging into his shoulders drawing blood.

“I can’t. I can’t”

“Yes, you can. We don’t have much time left” He could see them drawing closer. Je had masked their scents to delay them. But that was not enough.

She held him tightly sobbing into his bare shoulders.

For that moment he could not get himself to grow aware of her nudeness which was a rare thing for him, because his body always yearned for hers. But now even as her naked body, the fullness of her tits pressed against his own naked body, there was no reaction.

After two minutes, her sobbing reduced, and she looked up at him, her beautiful face illuminated by the moon, and her purple eyes shining with tears.

At that moment, as her eyes filled with a mixture of sorrow and love he knew that he would carry this face lifetime after lifetime.

She held his chin and pulled his face down, before brushing her cold lips against his.

He caught her lips and sought out her tongue in an erotic yet desperate dance.

She moaned brokenly into his mouth and held him tighter to her as he devoured her with a wicked passion.

But then she grew slack and stopped kissing him back. He drew back and panicked when the strong scent of blood hit his nose with a force.

“Aurora” Was all he could utter as her body grew slack in his hands.

She didn’t respond.

And in her hand, he saw a dagger, her dagger. The one weapon that could take their life instantly despite their immortality stained with blood and a deep cut at her side.

She had taken her life.

She had chosen to take her life instead of living a lifetime without her lover.

And as the moon shined brighter, oblivious of the tragic going on behind it, Cain raised his head up and howled loudly into the sky.
