Chapter 3

Once the gem was in my head, I took notice of the milky green color on it, curiously staring at the gem as I tried to figure out what it was, but I’ve never seen this color before. Turning my attention to Jess and everyone else, passing the gem over to Mr. Sapping, to see if he can figure it out.

“This beautiful gem is an amazonite.”, he tells us.

“Interesting, I’ve never seen an amazonite this color before.”, I say as I take it back.

“What is it used for?”, Jess asks.

“It’s used to treat fatigue, trauma, or anything that takes energy away from a person. Amazonite has also helped problems with the thyroid glands and aid the treating of alcoholism; because of this there’s always been a gentle healing quality, it’s useful to nearly everybody.”, I explained.

“Wow, that’s a lot, mama.”, she says excitedly.

“Yes, now if I remember correctly, that it’s close to your bedtime?”, I laughed, then raised an eyebrow at her.

“Night!”, she yells as she jogs to her room.

Everyone told her the night before they said night to Aaron and I, which we say back as I walk them out the door. Heading back to the living room where Aaron seemed to look out of place, gently smiling at him, I made a quick trip to the kitchen and grabbed two packets of goldfish, then handed one to him.

“How much of our world do you actually know?”, Aaron asks, while munching on his goldfish.

“I know a decent amount of things.”, I state.

“What do you know about elves?”

“There are six groups of elves: Moon, Elemental, Half, Nature, Avariel, and Dark elves. I know dark elves for their excellent skills at potions, dark magic, stealth, and fighting abilities; their ears are almost like vampires, but it’s to a slit. Avariel elves are winged elves. They have the same abilities as all other elves because of their mixed breeding; their ears also point straight out as well. Nature elves are known for their excellent hunting skills, potions, light magic, and their ability to communicate with animals. Half-elves are excellent at potions and it depends on what elf they’re mixed with for their magic; they also have downward ears just like the nature elves. Then we have elemental elves, which are quite rare because they are stronger in their element; plus few are born. Besides that, elemental elves can either be excellent at dark or light or even both, it just depends on their element. Moon elves are the only elves that can take power from the moon, it’s mostly when the moon is full because that’s when the moon’s power is at its highest. Moon elves are known for their crescent moon in the middle of their foreheads and very light, pale gray skin.”, I explained to him.

Staring at me in shock as if he wasn’t suspecting that before I could speak he did, “Are you sure you're human? I’ve never met a human that could tell the six types of elves at the top of their heads.”

“Um… not that I know of. Then again, I’ve never seen my birth certificate, so I really wouldn’t know.”, I answered honestly.

“Questions?”, I asked him.

“No, do you have questions?”, he says, then asks.

“How much room is in your bag?”, I ask, getting to the point.

“It’s a bottomless bag, why?”

“I have a skateboard that I wanted to bring so Jess would have something to do if I was running in class.”, I explained.

“Do you have a suitcase?”

“No, I have a chest full of clothes.”, I state while heading towards my room with him following.

Once we made it to my room, I pointed to the chest and where the chest sat. It turned before my very eyes as a suitcase. Surprised that I got to witness magic from another being is definitely different from when Miss Sullivan uses her magic. He then disappears, not wasting time on the smoke that he left behind, as I take the skateboard, a few shoes of mine then head towards Jess’s room to put a few of her shoes as well and a few other things she may want to bring before heading back to my room to put everything into the bag then put the bag inside my backpack from high school. Putting everything by the front together with Jess’s bags so when it’s time to leave we’ll have plenty of time to get there; once my head hits my pillow, I was out like a light.

When my phone alarm goes off, I lift my tired body off my bed and slowly drag my feet to Jess’s room. Picking her up and making my way to the front door as Mr. Sapping, Miss Sullivan, Miss Karmay, and Mr. Slender, we're taking our bags to Miss Sullivan’s van. Nodding my head as thanks to them as I continue to walk towards the van with a still passed out little girl. Belting her in, just as I do myself and everyone else, Miss Sullivan and Miss Karmay take the front seats while Jess, Mr. Sapping, and I take the middle, leaving Mr. Slender to the back with our bags; shooting him an apologetic smile, as he slightly tilts his body towards the back before fixing his body. First, he hands me my backpack, then he hands me two bags, the first bag as both Jess's and my favorite snacks, a few drinks along with other snacks. Not looking at the second bag as I put them inside the bag in my backpack.

“As you’ve already seen, the first bag is full of both your favorite snack and the second bag also has your favorite snack but when you get low, it’ll automatically refill so you’ll never run out since it’s an eleven-hour flight. No one can get in unless it is you or Jess without your permission.”, Mr. Slender explains.

Then he grabs another bag and heads it to me, placing it inside the bag again as Mr. Sapping explains what’s in it.

“So, the bag Mr. Sapping just gave you three shrinkage potions and three anti-nausea, since we’re not sure if Jess gets motion sickness.”

“Why did you give me shrinkage potions?”, I ask.

“You never know when you're going to need it.”, he states simply.

Glancing outside the window, I see us pulling up to the airport; they weren't as packed as I thought it would be; not wanting to miss the plan, we swiftly made our way into the airport. Looking up at the flight information display, once I found what I was looking for, I started heading that way. I gently place Jess down on the seat before waking her up; as she wakes up, everyone else sits across from us as we listen to the overhead.
