Ignored

Martin pushed the door open and Nicky looked at the door to see the intruder.

Martin frowned," Hey, Mom. I heard your voice from my room. What is going on?" He feigned ignorance.

Nicky pointed an accusing finger at Reagan whose head was bent.

" This girl stole a cologne. Did you know that my ring was stolen?" She asked in anger.

Martin's eyes widened in shock, " The one that the king gave you as a gift?" He asked. His mom had always cherished that ring and never allowed anyone to touch it. She only wore it on special occasions.

" Who do you suspect?" He was genuinely interested.

She gave Reagan a wicked stare, " It must be the maids of course. Only she and Cisca works in the house."

" We don't have proof. I don't think they did it."

" Martin, don't start. These girls are thieves." She maintained eye contact with Reagan who averted her gaze.

Martin turned to Reagan, " Whose perfume did you wear? Speak the trusty and just maybe my mother can be kind to you."
