"Mrs Jones, good morning ma'am,"

She let out a sigh before responding, "Morning." That sounded like a half-hearted response but I went with it, going on to say hello to Simon's sisters who responded same way as their mother. Maybe this was how they responded to greetings in their family, I assured myself.

I waited for them to have their seats before taking mine opposite Mrs Jones at the table. I wondered if they were going to order anything after they took forever to skim through the menus provided. I unconsciously began tapping at the table as I waited for them to decide and call the waiter.

Looking up from my phone I spotted their irritated faces staring straight at me. "Is there a problem?" I asked.

"Why do you have to drum on the table like a five year old?" One of his sisters sneered at me. I almost got offended.

I immediately halted my thrumming fingers and whispered a 'sorry'. They faced their menus again and my feet soon took over the tapping.
