One hundred and seven

Sally's POV

"What are you thinking?" His voice calmed the riot in my head. However, I couldn't keep the frown from my face.

At first, I was going to ignore him, but I remembered how persistent and annoying he could be if he didn't get what he wanted. "Way to stay away from you," I grumbled.

"Why?" He asked simply.

Frustrated, I responded the way I knew how. Hurt people and push them away. "Because you're suffocating me."

Silence loomed in the car like dark clouds hovering above our heads. The only noise that reduces stress to a small extent is the music coming from the radio.

"Does what happened between us this past week mean nothing to you?" His question cut through the silence.

When it comes to protecting myself, this is what I do best. "Is there something to it? I mean, I'm just with you so you can get better. But looking at you now, you look better and healthier than when I first saw you. So, I guess my work is done. And that means I can go wherever I want."
