On the other hand, he looks uncomfortable and lost. Sally noticed the tired look in his eyes again. She was only gone for one day.

"This Alpha male says his name is Ryan, and our niece is his mate." Sally felt her cheeks heat up as soon as her grandfather said that.

"I'm not his mate," Sally said. The two elders flicked their heads to look at her, frowned, and asked her to explain their situation. "I turned him down."

Now, the look on their faces said they didn't see it coming. "Why? If I may ask." Her grandmother wondered.

Sally's eyes locked on him the second the question echoed throughout the room before looking away. What surprised her next was that he was the one who answered them. "I broke her heart."

Hell, he did, but for her, it was like freeing them from the burden of being partners.

She frowned, what annoyed her the most was how he knew about the existence of her other grandparents. Could it be that he went to that old woman for help? Maybe...
