Chapter Two

"This is Ms. Veronica Kim, she's going to be your secretary Sir. Felix."

I remember hoping that our paths would never cross again. But now you're standing Infront of me and looking directly in my eyes.

My heart starts racing uncontrollably just by thinking about having to work with the man I spent the night with.

So he is Felix Cortezano, the new CEO of YJ Corporation.  I read on the internet that he’s too young for the CEO position but his intelligence and his unique business antics makes him the most popular in the industry.

But who would have thought that the man with me last night would be my Boss starting today?

I am ready to forget the mistake that happened between the two of us. Yet, it appears that it's impossible to do it now. How can I forget about you when I'm needed to be by your side as your secretary?

"We've crossed paths again huh."  I stood up straight and smiled as I looked at him.

"Yes sir, it's nice to finally meet you. You can rest assured that I will do my best as your secretary."  I said formally and politely.

Even if something happened between us, it shouldn't affect how I work. It's finally dawning on me that the man I was with last night will be my boss starting today.

"All right, let's get to work; bring my coffee in five minutes," he said as he closed his office door.

I approached the desk next to his office. So this will be my workplace; the overall design of the company is so stunning. The gold and white interior gives me a palace vibe; it's simply stunning.

I placed my bag down and slid into the swivel chair. I was really shaken when I finally sat down. I actually have a job, I can now live comfortably without relying on my parents.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to clear my mind but the image of them kept flashing through my mind.

"Stop your drama, Veronica! Maybe you forgot that I'm still the one feeding you! The clothes you're wearing are also from my money, so don't you dare disrespect me!"

"She's disrespecting you because you deserve it, dumbass; if you want your daughter to respect you, you have to break up with that social climber first."

"And look who's talking, as if I didn't already know you pay for three disgusting people every night; you're worse than me, Soora, so stop acting like a decent mother or a woman."

"You're the one who turned me into this!"

"You made yourself that way! Don't blame me; you caused it!"

"My life would be so much easier and happier if you hadn't made me pregnant before, but you ruined everything!"

"Don't hold it against me; I gave you a choice, but you chose to have that child."

"Because I despise you, and that child will be your worst karma."

"Here's your coffee, sir," I said as I placed a cup of coffee on his table.

I can smell his cologne wafting through his office. He has a pleasant scent that soothes me.

"Excuse me, Sir," I bowed slightly before turning around and started leaving.

I'm still adjusting to my new job, so I need to give it everything I've got. My English knowledge is still lacking in some parts , so I need to continually study to do my job properly.

If those documents are written in Korean this work is nothing, but hello?  I'm in the Philippines, how can that happen?

"Did you cry?" he asks, I stopped turning the doorknob.

My body panicked when I heard his footsteps, and my heart is beating faster now that I feel him close to me.

"S-sir?"  I'm now breathing heavily.

"Did you cry?" he asks, gently grabbing my chin.

I was speechless the minute our eyes met.  I silently nod, remembering the anguish I felt earlier when thinking of my mother and father's hurtful words.

"Did I really harm you last night? Is that why you cried? Is it still hurting down there?"

He asked while pointing to the skirt I was wearing.

My blood rushed to my face because of the extreme embarrassment. I gently pushed him when I noticed that our bodies were starting to get closer again. .

"I'm sorry, sir," I said, "but I need to return to my desk."

"No, let's talk," he said firmly.

"What shall we discuss, Sir?" I politely ask, smiling and reminding myself to calm down and be professional.

"About... ahm, your tutut?" he blatantly asked.

I close my eyes tightly. Okay, let's talk to him in a nice and respectful way.

"Can you stop asking about my tutut? I'm fine, I'm fine, my tutut is fine! I didn't cry because of this tutut okay? So stop asking about it." Okay, I lost my temper. Goodbye job.

"Pfft. What is that Secretary Kim? Hahaha your tutut? Hahaha."  his face turned bright red as a result of his laughter.

I just stood there waiting for him to stop laughing.

I want  to work quietly, and  live a normal life. And to be able to do that, I need to resolve our relationship, me as his secretary and  him as my boss.

"Sir – Ah no, Felix..." his eyes become solemn as I say his name.

Nothing was as fast as my heartbeat, I don't have any idea how to express it clearly enough for him to understand. I raised my head to meet his eyes.

"You don't have to act nice in front of me; please forget what happened to us last night; it was just an accident; as your secretary, I don't want to cause any trouble, so please forget what happened last night," I said with all my courage.

I was speechless when he stepped back away from me, hands in both pockets and an angry smirk on his smiling lips.

"You want me to forget what happened between us because it was just an accident," I can hear the bitterness in his voice.

I felt a sting in my chest when his eyes turned cold as he stared at me blankly.

"Y-yes ..." I looked down when I could no longer cope with the tension in his eyes.

The silence lasted inside the office. I don’t know what his reaction will be now.  Is he angry?  But why?  it’s impossible for him to get angry just because I told him to forget what happened between us.

He is always with different women every night so this is nothing to him, I'm no different from those girls he laid in bed with because like them, I also get swayed by the desire.

"Fine, now get out," he said sternly.

I walk out the door, taken aback by his abrupt change in tone toward me.

But why did he agree right away when I told him to forget what happened to us last night?  Huh.  Maybe that's what he wanted to happen so he quickly agreed.

Why am I feeling so bad if this is what I want?

I let myself fall down in my chair, I even poked my forehead on the table because of a severe headache.  Hangovers, family problems and now Felix.

Days and weeks passed quickly.  Sir Felix never spoke to me personally again.  At work it was very formal when speaking, almost as with one finger I had the times he looked me in the eyes while talking.

Since the last day we talked, he has been like this.

It's okay with me because that's what I want too.  But sometimes there are times or situations that heat up my head, like today.

"I ask for pure black coffee, Secretary Kim," he said, looking at the cup of brown coffee I'd made.

"Sir, brown coffee is far better to black coffee," I insisted.

He squints his brow and stares at me as if I've committed some heinous crime.  I want to slap him, I'm disgusted with his face.

 He's been too snobbish lately.

He doesn't care if he doesn't brew coffee or do some work.

"Are you disobeying my orders, Secretary Kim?"  he calmly asked.

 "No, sir."

"No? But you brought me this coffee I didn't ask for? And you're ignoring my word?"  I close my eyes to raise his voice.

I remained bent over when I felt the wetness in my eyes.  I bit the Lower part of my lip when I felt like crying.

What is going on with me?

I've become overly emotional in the past few weeks.  Is this still the result of his unexpectedly harsh treatment of me?  I grew more sensitive.

 "Secretary Kim!"

"S-sir?"  I ask, tears already streaming down my cheeks as I face him.

I noticed how surprised he was when he spotted me crying.  He jumps from his seat and approaches me.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you; okay, stop crying; I'll drink the coffee now," he gently caresses my cheeks, wiping away my tears.

I don't know why I'm sobbing like a baby!  This is so embarrassing!

"Come here ..." he gently pulled me closer to his chair.  "Sit down."

"But — okay."  I stopped complaining and immediately sat in his office chair.

He in turn remained standing on the side table, he leaned back and started drinking the coffee I mixed.  I also calmed down and enjoyed the CEO's seat.

I looked up at him when I smelled the aroma of the coffee he was drinking.  He bent down to look at me.

"Are you calm now?"  he softly asks, and I nod.

He smiles at me and lightly touches the tip of my nose.

"I don't want to see you cry like that again."

"I want a donut – ah, I'm sorry what did you say?"  I asked when I couldn't hear the last thing he said because I suddenly entered.

It just shook and I didn't answer.  It typed on his phone.

"What kind of donut?"  my eyes twinkled and I quickly thought of the flavor.

 "Ahm, strawberry?"

"Why are you asking me?"  I gasped before looking up.

"Kimchi Donut."  I said.  I was devastated to remember the look of the kimchi Donut.  Ugh!  I want it so bad.

"Kimchi? Donut has that flavor?"  he asks, surprised.

"Yes, but it's not really a donut ... more like a curry bread? Just like that!"

"All right, let me see if that strange food is available on earth."  he frowned and whispered as he typed on the phone.

I laughed and just watched him look for a donut.  Actually I only tasted it in Korea and I'm not a fan of that flavor, but I don't know if I want to taste it now.

"Secretary Kim, that food is only available in Korea," he exclaimed, confused.

"I know, but I really want to eat a Kimchi donut right now," my eyes welled up again.

I overheard him quietly cursing while dialing on his phone.

"Yeah, Kimchi Donut. Make it now, we'll be there in an hour — shut up, I'll pay you."

I was already smiling when he dropped the call.  Does that mean someone can cook Kimchi donuts here?

"Haa – you look so happy now."  he said while looking at me, I smiled more widely and nodded like a happy child.

"Thank you!"  He smiled and ruffled my hair.

"Okay let's go and get your donut."  he picked up the car key his coat.

"But we still have work, it's not lunch time yet."  I checked the time, it was nine am before we entered.

I stood up and took my place in front of him.  Will we leave work for the donut?  I can just take it.  It's embarrassing and I'm still bothering him.

"We'll be back after lunch," he said as he pushed me through the door.

 -

"Whose house is this?"  I will ask.

Large white house in front.  As we entered the large green garden immediately opened up to us.  The beauty here.

"My friend and his wife,"  he replied.

So he has a friend who is married now.  Why is he not there yet?  Felix is a woman, maybe I saw him at the bar with three women in his arms.  Tsk.

"W-why?"  I was surprised to see his nervous face.

 "Why?"  I will ask.

"It's as if you're going to make me bald with your bad looks. Did I do something again? I'll give you a donut."  my forehead furrowed even more.

"You're ugly, don't be so cute!"  I angrily shouted at him.

I saw how surprised he was, so I laughed in his face.

"Hahaha you look like a monkey."  I laughed pointing at his face.

I was surprised to see someone laugh at me.

I turned around and was immediately amazed at the faces of the two of them.

"What is your skin care?" I instantly asked.

I was surprised when the beautiful woman laughed out loud before approaching me and squeezing my cheek.

"You're so cute, Felix hey! He looks like Jennie Kim of black pink!"  she exclaimed in full energy as she squeezed my cheek.

My eyes quickly watered and asked for help.  Felix grabbed me and hid me behind him.

"Stop it Jengjeng, you're hurting her." Felix said while protecting me using his broad shoulder back.

"Oh, the Playboy is playing like a hero now huh "  I frowned and pushed Felix when I remembered how he flirted with other girls.

"Hello I'm Veronica Kim." I introduce myself to them.

"Are you Korean?"  I nodded to Jengjeng, and when I saw his face lift,  I covered my cheek.

"Felix's girlfriend is now traumatized. Stop it now wife– hello Miss. Veronica, I'm Lucas and this is my wife Athyna."  Athyna waved at me.

"You can call me Jengjeng."  She said kindly,I nodded and chatted with them as I entered their house.

I found out that Lucas was one of Felix's close friends.  He's a Baker so Felix approached him to make me some donut.

"Let's go to the living room first, let the two of them go to the kitchen."  Jeng pulled me to sit on the sofa.

"Thank you, sorry for the inconvenience." they might also be busy after Felix suddenly makes a request to them. Jengjeng smiled and clung to my arm even more.

"Don't worry, we're not doing anything right now." she cheerfully said.

"Thank you" she's too nice and clingy.

Usually I don't want to be too close to someone like this. In Korea most of my school friends cling on me and it's not a nice feeling so I told them to stop doing those.  But now, jengjeng's arm is light and comforting.

"Have you been married for a long time, Jengjeng?"  I asked when I saw the large portrait of him and Lucas in the living room.

The two of them are amazingly beautiful people.  They don't look like real people when you look at them. Their wedding portrait is so enchanting.

"Just last month, so we're still on leave now. But next week we'll be back at work."  she replied.

"Congratulations on your wedding."  I smiled and greeted her even though it's late. .

"Aww, you're so cute."  I stood up quickly.

"Why? Hey — haha don't run!"  she chased me as I ran into the kitchen.

"Sir!"  I called Felix and immediately hid behind him.

Jengjeng entered the kitchen still laughing.

"Hon, stop teasing her haha."  laughed it's disobedience to the wife.

"Okay, I'll stop that."  I was blown away when he winked at me.  It's nice to have a strong topak.

"Here, it's cooked."  Luke dropped the tray full of donuts on the table.  "Lucas's Kimchi Donut everyone" he proudly introduced the donut to us.

"Nice Bro, thanks."  they both did fist bombs.

"Payment bro."  Lucas whispered, which made Jengjeng laugh.

"Veronica? Here, try the donuts."  Luke handed me one.

I stared at that.  I used to want to eat that but now ... I don't want to.

"Why? I thought you wanted this?"  Felix asked me with a worried look.

Yes, I liked it earlier.  But now I don't want to eat it anymore.

I took two pieces and put them on the plate.

"What does it taste like?"  I heard Jeng ask.

"Taste it, here."  Lucas cut a small piece and gave it to his wife.

The next thing we heard was a repetitive curse.  Lucas' laughter almost filled the entire kitchen.

"What is that?!"  Jengjeng shouted, I laughed and turned to Felix who was also laughing at Jengjeng reaction.

"It has a unique taste but it's not bad. But gosh, you have a weird taste, Veronica."  Lucas said, I just smiled and pulled Felix closer.

"Why?"  Felix asked me in astonishment.

"Siit here and eat this."  I ordered him and pointed the two donuts on the table.

The three of them fell silent, I saw how pale Felix is,  and he was sweating because of what I said.

"N-no I don't want to eat it."  he refused.  The two on the side laughed out loud.

"Y-you don't ?"  I stuttered when my lips suddenly trembled, starting to get emotional.

"Why are you crying again ?!"  He was having a hard time shouting while looking at me and at the food.

"You said you didn't want to!"  I shouted back at him.  If he's annoyed I'm annoyed too.

"But you like that, don't you?"  I nodded.  "Oh,  why are you feeding me? You eat it."

"But I don't want to eat it, I just want to watch you eat it!"  my tears were already falling down my cheeks  as I sobbed.

"B-but ..." he would have refused but I reached for his hand and put it on my cheek.

"Felix .... please." I don't know why I'm so eager to see him eat this bread too.

Her eyes widened after a minute he lifelessly  sat down on the chair and picked up the donut.

I sat next to him and waited for him to taste the donut.  I also saw Jeng and Lucas looking at their friend with pity while suppressing their laughter.

"Shi–" he frowned after a bite.

My eyes shone brightly as soon as I saw his reaction after he ate it.

"You're cute haha."  I laughed as I watched his face crumble every time he chewed.

"Ahh."  I pushed his hand holding the donut and forced him to eat it.

I laughed every time Felix ate the donuts and blurted some endless curse.
