“Oh, hi, Xander,” I said, holding Seth’s hand a bit tighter. “Fancy seeing you here.”

“That hand.” Xander ignored my greeting as he gestured to my hand in Seth’s. “That hand…”

“What hand?” I pretended to be oblivious. “Anyway, Seth, do you remember Xander?” I turned to look up at Seth. He was a very bad actor, staring at me with a blank expression. “He’s the next Alpha of Silver Moon. Xander, this is my boyfriend, Seth.”

“Boy – boyfriend?” The glass in his hand shattered and beer spilled everywhere.

I flinched in surprise and stiffened when Seth put his hand around my shoulder and pulled me to his body. He was even stiffer. I was sorry to be doing this to Seth because he seemed genuinely uncomfortable.

“Since when did you have a boyfriend?” He asked. No, his tone was much closer to a snarl as he glared at my hands in Seth’s. “Selene, we need to talk.”

“What about?” I asked with feigned innocence. “Oh, where’s your girlfriend? Not here today?” I looked around for the giggling girl alwa
