“His condition is stable now. He can be charged out.”

I nearly wail in front of the doctor who helped us through Ethan’s journey here in the hospital. I took his hand and then shook it. Words can not express how appreciative I am of this day. The doctor grinned, then gestured his head. He cleared out the room, closing the door behind him. I looked at Ethan, who was looking through the window. Arms are crossed together. I sat next to him, caressing his hair.

“Ethan, I’m getting you out of here. Aren’t you happy?” I whispered, attempting to touch his cheeks when he recoiled, then looked away, unable to say anything. Something penetrated my heart, befuddled why he acted like this.
