The room fell silent after Jethro left, and Gemma no longer felt anything around her. She felt everything before she was just black, white, gray, and extremely gloomy. It was not because of the scenery, but because Gemma's mind was left with only those colors. Her entire world had collapsed into a tasteless void.

Gemma didn't need Jethro's threats. She didn't feel the need to run or do anything because no matter what she did, all she would receive in return was just pain.

"Mom..." Clement stood by Gemma's bed for a long time and called her many times, but Gemma only looked at the empty space in front of her.

Gemma tilted her head and looked at Clement. Although she didn't want to, she had to admit that the boy in front of her had a face very similar to Jethro's, with only the eyes resembling her.

"What's wrong, dear?" Gemma forced a gentle and affectionate smile toward the child. After all, Clement was the greatest comfort for Gemma in her life.
