After she had breakfast, Tang Ruochu washed up and got ready to head to work. Lu Shijin was heading to his office as well, so he would drop her on the way there.

After they reached Times Entertainment, Lu Shijin suddenly stopped Tang Ruochu and said solemnly, "I don't think your family will let this slide easily. Don't forget to call me anytime if anything happens over the next two days."

"Sure. Thanks, Shijin."

"I would very much prefer you to show your gratitude with actions and not with words, but since you seem to be doing well addressing me by my name, I will not force this issue for the time being," Lu Shijin said and his face broke into one of his rare smiles.

Tang Ruochu blushed and then hastily said goodbye to him before she ran out of the car without a second glance.

She signed in after she reached the office, went to her seat, and started to arrange her interview questions for the day. However, she had barely started when Song Anyi came by and dragged her away.

Song Anyi pulled her friend into the restroom, locked the door, and immediately asked, "You told me that you moved out yesterday. What's going on? Did that bitch Gu Ruoruo kick you out of the house?"

"No, I wanted to move out on my own accord," Tang Ruochu said placidly with a shake of her head.

"Do you think I'll believe that?" Song Anyi said with a scoff.

Tang Ruochu heaved a soft sigh and conceded, "All right, that was a half-truth."

"What exactly happened?" Song Anyi asked.

Tang Ruochu shrugged and said, "Nothing much. Gu Ruoruo will be holding her engagement party with Ji Yinfeng tomorrow and my dad asked me to attend their wedding..."

"What!!!" Song Anyi's eyes widened in disbelief and she gaped in shock at her friend.

Tang Ruochu had already anticipated her reaction and continued to smile.

Song Anyi looked at her friend sympathetically and said, "Ruochu..."

"Don't worry, I'm fine. If they want to get engaged, so be it. I will never attend the event. Gu Ruoruo wants to provoke me but I won't let her have the opportunity," she said calmly.

She would no longer let her emotions be swayed by Gu Ruoruo or Ji Yinfeng.

She would have done anything for Ji Yinfeng when she was in love with him, but now that all love was lost, she hated him to her core. Gu Ruoruo was making a mistake if she wanted to use this to provoke her.

Tang Ruochu had already slowly come to accept this over the past few days.

"Ruochu, I'm glad you think that way. I was so worried that you would suffer a breakdown because of their actions," Song Anyi said.

She had been worried that her friend wouldn't be able to handle the shock, but after hearing Tang Ruochu's words, she let out a sigh of relief.

"Don't worry. I'm not that much of a fool," Tang Ruochu said as she gave a pat on her friend's shoulder.

"Let's go. We should head back to the office," she said with a smile.

"Sure."

A thought suddenly occurred to Song Anyi after they emerged from the restroom. "Oh yes, where did you move to?" she asked.

"Uh..." Tang Ruochu started hesitantly. "I'll let you know at a later date."

"What's going on? Why are you so secretive about this...?"

The next day was the day when Ji Yinfeng and Gu Ruoruo's engagement party was to be held. Their wedding announcement was splashed all over the front page of all the major newspapers early that morning.

This was a brilliant move on Gu Ruoruo's part. She had deliberately hidden her identity as Ji Yinfeng's fiancé from the public, then created a huge splash after the wedding announcement was released. This caused her popularity to soar.

At the moment, photos of her were posted all over Weibo, the major gossip portals, and websites. She had truly made it big after the wedding announcement.

"This woman is so devious!" Song Anyi said objectively after she read the news.

Tang Ruochu didn't expect Gu Ruoruo to take advantage of this wedding announcement to put her name out there.

"This woman is constantly thinking of ways to bring me down!" Tang Ruochu said.

Lu Xiaolin suddenly sauntered in and said, "Tang Ruochu, the young master of the Ji Group and Gu Ruoruo have gotten engaged, so they've invited reporters to head down and interview them. I see that you have the most capacity in the department recently, so we've decided to send you down."
