Chapter thirty five

Selena

My heart raced as I stood frozen on the beach, my eyes fixated on something that had terrified me. The scream that escaped my lips felt as if it had been ripped from the depths of my soul. I couldn't tear my gaze away from the lifeless creature lying on the sand.

And then, to my surprise and confusion, Angel burst into laughter. His laughter echoed in the night, mingling with the sound of crashing waves. I looked at him incredulously, unsure of what to make of his reaction.

"Selena," he chuckled, struggling to compose himself. "It's just a dead fish!"

Confusion washed over me, and embarrassment tinged my cheeks with a rosy hue. I had allowed my imagination to run wild, letting fear consume me over something so trivial. I felt a mixture of relief and foolishness.
