I stood frozen at the balcony door, watching Ralph leap into the storm with a mix of fear and admiration. He was doing the right thing, even if it took some pushing. The wind howled, and the rain battered against the glass, making it nearly impossible to see, but I kept my eyes glued to the scene below, praying for his safe return.

Time seemed to stretch on forever, each minute a torturous eternity. I clutched my robe tightly, my heart pounding with every flash of lightning. When I finally saw Ralph leading the man and child to safety, a wave of relief washed over me. He had done it.

But then, as he began to climb back up, the wind seemed to fight him every step of the way. My heart sank, my eyes widening in horror as I watched him slip and disappear from view.
