Chapter 40

King Augustra and his royal advisor were standing face to face in the grand throne room. The prisoner, who had just confessed to receiving orders from the royal advisor, Mr Kaleb, to release King Augustra's prisoners, was now standing in the corner of the room. All eyes were on the advisor as the Alpha King Augustra asked him to explain himself.

The advisor, with his head bowed, spoke in a timid voice, "My liege, the prisoner is lying. I have never done such a thing." He paused for a moment, as if waiting for the king's response.

The king was silent, his gaze never wavering from the advisor. The advisor, seemingly aware of the danger he was in, started to back away slowly.

"Have you nothing else to say, Mr Kaleb?" the king asked, his voice as stern as steel.

Mr Kaleb looked up, meeting King Augustra's gaze. He was trembling, but he was determined to stand his ground. "My liege, I am innocent. I did not do what I have been accused of."
