CHAPTER 47: DEAD MAN'S CAVE PART 1

"Zander," Hazel barely whispered as she felt his left arm tighten around her waist. He had his eyes closed, grinding his teeth while he folded his right palm into a fist.

She saw flashes of his parents' deaths, but she couldn't detect any guilt from him.

Something wasn't right.

She felt his confusion, but he didn't respond. He had a weary look on his face.

"Alpha, they're closing in," Declan recited. He pressed his back up against James' who still had an unconscious Julia in his arms.

Isis was busy chanting and humming in the centre while Dimitri and Carson guarded her sides.

"Hurry up, old crone," Dimitri ordered as the apparitions drew closer.

"Shut up and let her do her thing," Carson growled. "Just make sure they don't touch her."

Isis' body began to convulse. The spirits drew closer.

It was taking all their might to stay afloat, huddled in one spot.

"It's not working," Isis finally let out.

"Then try again," Carson told her.

"As I said, little boy, my spell is not working.
