CHAPTER 5

Selena's pov

The guard yanked my chains as we headed back to the dungeon despite the agonizing pain I felt in every muscle,he never cared. Suddenly he paused and began to loosen my chains, I winced at every attempt he made to loosen my

Fear clogged my throat as my mind spun with different images of what he probably had in store for me.

"You're to do your chores today". He said as he struggled to loosen the chains, his voice low and husky.

My lips quiver in fear, my throat going dry as the sand I lift my gaze to him momentarily and then let my eyes fall to the floor. He succeeded in unlocking the chains and left my sight without turning his gaze at me.

I panted for air and coughed at the same time, I could feel my legs going weak, making me stand for a while before taking the next step.

I was wondering why the guard would leave me in a place I wasn't familiar with. It hadn't been up to five days since I was sold to the pack, and I had been in the dungeon all along except when I was requested by the alpha.

My vision became blurry with each step I took to the slave quarters, I made use of the walls, placing my hands on them to guide me back to the slave quarters.

But I came to a halt which looked new to me, its walls and doors were made of glass, but the door was slightly opened. I spared a glance at my back to recall how I got here but I couldn't as I noticed I wouldn't have a way to return to my quarter.

Beads of sweat started to form on my forehead as my body shivered in fear. I walked towards the opened door, my legs going weak with each step I took, I gently shoved it open.

My mouth was opened in awe as glanced around the room, which looked more than a furnished room, it was screaming wealth.

I took a step further into the room to have a glimpse of what the room looks it was made of glasses, but wasn't transparent and there was a dim light that illuminated the room. Its Walls were decorated with dim lights, making it look more beautiful in appearance.

There a bookshelves made of glasses, which were placed in every corner of the room, and it was filled with books to the brim. I couldn't stop any further as the mesmerizing sight before me made me feel a bit disoriented.

Fear and dread consumed me as I froze in my spot, I started taking a step backward when my eyes caught in a book amongst the shelves. My father had a similar book in his library

I stepped towards the shelf on the right-hand side of the room where the book had been kept. A lot of questions scanned through my mind which I knew I would never have an answer to.

Panic surged through me as I realized the dire situation I was in. With my trembling hands, I yanked the book from the shelf. I flipped through the book but not a single word was written in it.

I placed the book back on the shelf I cringed at the thought of how my father and the alpha had the same book, but the alpha's was blank without a single word written on it, while my father's had poems written in it.

Just as I placed the book back on the shelf, with my eyes widened in alarm, scanning around the room I knew I would be doomed if I get caught.

Just as I placed the book back on the shelf a detached piece of paper fell on the floor, I hastily picked it up to put it in its rightful place but I was tempted to open it and glance at what was written in it if there was any.

As I tried to flip it open, my hands were full of bruises which was a result of the pain my hands had gone through in the hands of the painful chains used for slaves, the pain was sharp and intense but I ignored it and focused on what I was about doing.

I felt a photo in between the detached paper, I slipped it out without reluctance, and I gulped my saliva nervously as my eyes settled on the photo.

I gulped my saliva nervously and my train of thoughts was broken when I held the exact picture my father had in his library.

It was a picture of my mum and me when I was a child, she held me close to her arm and a little girl who looked exactly like me.

My heart pounded at a very fast pace as I felt tears gathering in my eyes with a lot of questions I never had the answers to.

I held the photo closely to my chest wondering how the alpha Caleb would have my childhood photo in his secret library, I never got the chance to meet my mom, I only recognized her in photos.

I jolted towards the door to get it locked, I slammed the door shut and scanned through the books on the shelves hoping against hope to find another thing similar to what I had found, my hands shivering at any book I touched. My efforts were futile when I couldn't find anything similar.

I know the alpha would never spare my life if he found out that a mere slave entered his secret library. I placed the book back on the detached paper and kept it in its rightful place.

I wouldn't dare to ask the alpha how my childhood photos got to his library, as he's known as a frightful and emotionally scared individual whose cold demeanor always makes him look unapproachable as he's considered a pariah.

My father couldn't stand the war he planned for his pack, so he had no other choice than to give me out as a slave.

I headed towards the door, as I wished to wake up from this nightmare which was nothing but a reality.

I had forgotten I hadn't put the photo in its rightful book, I increased my pace towards the shelf to correct the mistake I had made when the door immediately slammed open.

A shiver ran down my spine as I froze at my spot I felt a perspiration on my body when suddenly a voice growled.

"How dare you!!!?"
