Chapter Forty
JADE'S POV
Stupid, stupid, stupid me!
How in the world did I even decieve myself into imagining I stood a chance with him?
Of course he might have sworn he was done with Lizzy, but who promised he wouldn't run back into her waiting arms when she called?
Not doing that would have been so out of character for him, so I guess getting my hopes up for even a second is my fault and an act straight outta my poor judgement.
I sigh as I absently accept a fresh glass of drink from Nat, it's nothing really alcoholic enough to get anyone high or anything but I know it's spiked and that takes credit for the awful taste.
Why won't they just let these drinks be on their own without spiking it.
If Nat noticed what just happened a minute ago, she shows no sign of it as she carries on with the conversation we'd been having, so seamlessly.

JADE'S POV I don't know if this is the universe plotting against me or anything but I'm stuck with him now. Yeah, I know I'd initially agreed to share his suite with him for the trip and all, but after seeing him with Lizzy again, I didn't think I wanted to anymore. It isn't what I signed up for after all and I'm not sure I can handle having her in the same space after our last encounter but that's something that's gonna be unavoidable if I'm sharing his space. CADEN'S POV It dosen't make any sense. Everything had been fine between us before I'd left her sleeping in the room to go down to the lounge and that also had been the last time I saw her. JADE'S POV Today is day one the trip and not so surprisingly, the first activity on the list is hiking. Yeah, there's no surprise here because just behind this hotel that were staying at is a wide spread of good land that leads to what I'd describe as a beautiful hiking trail. It'd been hiked by the hotel staffs a lot too when they were rattling on and on about how choosing their hotel is one of the best choices we've made. JADE'S POV The hotel staffs really weren't bluffing when they were describing the view of this trail and seeing this now makes me anticipate more, the beautiful clearing they'd promised we'd find at the end of the trail. The scenery we are walking through is just so beautiful you'd be tempted to take pause and appreciate. JADES POV It's funny having Caden offer me a piggy back ride because of my injury and realizing he is serious about it only made it weird.
