SEVENTY FIVE

The dinner with Lucien’s family was only going to be a one-time thing, he had promised but that did not stop the nervous racks from coursing through Mara’s spine as she got out of the car. She had been here quite a number of times but as Elizabeth’s friend and not in any way related to the happenings in the family. Pretending to be Lucien’s fiancée was putting her in a kind of spot and making her self-conscious which was something she never felt.

“I am here” Lucien whispered in her ear, jolting her from her thoughts.

“Here goes nothing then” she responded, casting him a smile as she walked ahead of him

As usual Lucien’s mother was always one to hire a full catering service for just a tiny family dinner and apparently she had not invited Jason and Elizabeth over.
