A man dressed entirely in black stood over James, a gleaming blade poised to strike at James. Olivia's voice erupted in a desperate cry, "Stop!" She rushed forward, her instinct to protect overpowering any fear that coursed through her veins. But in an instant, the man vanished, escaping through the window and blending with the inky darkness outside.

Olivia's heart pounded in her chest as she crossed the room, checking on James. She breathed a sigh of relief to find him unharmed.

Questions swirled in Olivia's mind. Who was this mysterious assassin, and why had he targeted James? She realized that it was most definitely once of Lance's men trying to harm James.
